Amerifag here. Recently purchased this GTO (Re-badged Monaro), and I absolutely love it.

I had taken an interest in Australian cars because of the unique, relatively "quiet" styling mixed with big V8s. I've gotta say, you fuckers can really build a car.

By yes i mean you must understand its an old car, so shit will break or fail with or without warning just from age. Barn finds are cool but everything perishable needs replacement. While rewarding and very enjoyable, it can be expensive

By no, its not expensive i mean that when everything is running as it should and there are no breakdowns or failures, its just as reliable as anything else. Unless its on LPG, petrol economy is shit (averages 16 litres/100km) while LPG is expensive, but more manageable money wise

Parts wise, its about as hard as anything else from that era, you just need to look. In general take extra good care of the engine, keep everything lubed up etc. But ive bought a parts car, same model and year but its beyond repair so i take shit off it as i need it, that has also saved me a few hundred dollars so far and i haven't even used the engine parts yet.

give me some advice guys.
I'm a uni student and work a delivery job.
I get $17/hr, $3($5) rarely per delivery and a free meal. Hours are 5 nights a week but I only work 3.25-4hrs at the very most. I'll do 4-7 deliveries a night. It's cash in hand which is ok but if i was working these hrs at pizza hut or somewhere taxed id be under the $700 a fortnight limit.

Ideally I'd like something where I could work 8-10hr shifts 3-4 days a week. 3ish hrs a night 5 nights a week is lame and theres better paying jobs with more hrs out there.
Boss is also a cunt, he had lost his license when I started so i was doing 10+ deliveries a night but now he has hired more people and delivers now so I'm often just doing 4 a night.
I've also done a fuckload of km on the car through this job and it pains me somewhat. I bought it at 104,000km in june last year and its at 118,500.

Is delivering food even worth it?
I'm torn. Im not going into my own pocket for petrol, sometimes from delivery fee covers an entire tank.
my car has a 20,000km service history but I change oil myself every 10k as its a 2004 model.

I know my situations not the worst and It was difficult to even get a job for a long time. Im not dumb enough to quit before getting something else.
