Back in business school I actually studied a marketing case where Nissan specifically targeted the black female demographic(mainly the Altima). It was highly successful and like quadrupled sales to black people. That was around 8ish years ago and we're still seeing that success today.

Funny story, growing up (in the 90s, it was the new place I liked to be) we had these redneck neighbors who were our friends. They always drove shitty ford escorts, which they swore were absolutely indestructible. They did zero maintenance on them because that's a waste of money. And they went through these cars every couple years when they inevitably shit engine parts due to no oil; usually blamed it on previous owners or unions.

Meanwhile they gave my parents shit for owning japanese cars (mid 80s toyota and an early 90s mitsu), both of which went over 300k miles without major problems. It's amazing what timely oil changes will do.
