I'm thinking of buying a Scion xB because I want a cheap, reliable shitbox that's practical and will last forever.
Is there any better choice based on those criteria?
Seat pattern is sort of autistic but they're comfy

toyota matrix. then you dont look like a fag

Volvo 850 wagon
>>14734304
You'd look like a bigger fag driving a rebadged Pontiac Vibe senpai
>>14734285
Avoid 2008+ Scion xB's. If you must have an xB, make it a 2004-2006 model.

all good choices.
Oddly enough, the Pontiac Vibe was sold in Japan while the Matrix wasn't.

First gen xb is good. Second is shit.

What's wrong with gen 2.5? Consumer reports awarded it as the most reliable car in America a few years back.

>cheap, reliable shitbox that's practical and will last forever
get a fucking corolla or a diesel jetta faggot
>>14734366
Corollas are significantly pricier because of the Toyota brand name while the xB is just as reliable but depreciates more due to the Scion low budget name.

We'll it got big, fat and American. The first xb was reworked kei car and therefore interesting.
What's your budget? Cash or financing? How much down if financing? Post your local Craigslist.

I got $8000 cash to spend, and these 2011 xBs are worth about 8-10k
I'd rather buy a car in full
>>14734352
The second gen xB was too big, and lost everything that made the original such a hit. Plus the 2.4L engine of the 2008+ models are known for oil consumption problems and reliability issues.

Craigslist?

Get the TC
Friends got one it's kinda quick and reliable
I belive it's the same engine as the corolla
>>14734285
Buy a yaris
>>14734686
shut up. it's one of the worst new cars you can buy in the us.
>>14734314
no the pontiac vibe is a rebadged toyota matrix you nigger
which makes a HUGE difference because if it was a pontiac motor/interior it would be in pieces
>>14734495
its the camry engine from 2002-2010 senpai
the tc is very reliable but crazy slow it weighs about 3500. that being said its a decent shitbox

Honda Fit, Mazda Protege5, Mazda 3, Subaru Impreza, Subaru Forester, Subaru Legacy/Outback.
If you're set on an xB though:
1st gen models are quirky and very efficient, but slow as shit. Reliable and cheap, but hard to find one not already riced out.
2nd gen has WAY more usable cargo space, is a lot comfier, and the 2AZ-FE has enough torque to get up to speed relatively quickly. Fuel economy isn't as good, though.

I own one. 120k miles on the odometer. 2nd owner. Bought at 70k. It has never broken. I've only changed the oil, front brake pads, tires. Fold the rear seats down and you can stuff a shit-ton of,stuff in the back. In town mileage is crap, 23mpg. Freeway is ok, 30mpg( mine is a stick shift). Comfortable. Decent power, it's fun to drive with a stick. People love the 1st gen but they are fucking gutless. I love it. You will never ever get any pussy with this car, though. Ever.
