I don't much care for the lastgen celicas, but i do have to admit the GTS factory rice turns my inner boyracer on a bit.
I'm a fan of the earlier-gen celicas from the early 1990's and before.
Good DD, probably a few bolt-ons for it from TRD. But you could honestly get better bang for your buck out of a Honda if you want a cheap project car.

they're essentially a coupe'd camry, that handles a bit better. For a DD with sport styling and decent handling they're fine, but don't be expecting any power.
