What's the catch? Or are the people who buy these for $150,000+ just dumb?
>>
>>14688320
They depreciate really really hard. The catch however can be title status, mileage, number if owners, or problems/condition

Even the lugnuts are designed retarded.

it's been hooned to death by a teen with a rich daddy, so it's a ticking money pit

money doesn't buy common sense.

even $36k is too much for that

8 years old and last gen. This is just what happens to s-classes
>>
>>14688320
because V12's are horribly expensive to maintain
>>
>>14688320
No one wants an old S-class
Specially an AMG
They thing is a bomb about to go off and cost an owner $10k atleast.
>>

>What's the catch?

If anything happens to the motor, it costs $60,000 United States dollars for a new one.

And that doesn't include installation.

Plus that example is too expensive - I've seen ones sold my their owners for around $25k with 20-30k miles on them.

the S63 is a veeate
>>
>>14688320

The people that can actually afford these usually lease them or buy them and sell them before the depreciation and maintenance hits too hard. Technically they're smart, paying the maintenance and repairs on a used high end luxury is dumb when you can just lease a new one.

Rich people are usually extremely tight with their money.
>>
>>14688387
it was most likely leased desu
>>
>>14688320
These big mercs (bmw 7 series too) always have suffered terrible depreciation.

These don't have the reputation for reliability that their ancestors did either, which affects what people are willing to pay of course.

It's a money pit at any price, anon.
>>
>>14688387
i'll be damned if im paying $12 a month for sirius xm in my leased GL
>>
>>14688320
The 100,000 km service (62,000 mile service) costs $14-$30k depending on motor.

These high content luxury cars are super expensive to own outside of warranty.

Only a fool or an immensely confident shade tree mechanic buys an out of warranty late model Mercedes.
>>
>>14688435
I was wondering about this. Depreciation hits these cars so hard though, I wonder if the dealers can even make any money after the lease is up.
>>
>>14688656
>$14-30k

For real? Holy shit, definitely would have to go all bush mechanic if I owned one.

Yes. The service is basically rebuilding the engine.
>>
>>14688788
That sounds... excessive.

>buy it
>drive it until something pops or major service is due
>sell for same price as bought, cite depreciation compared to MSRP
>>
>>14688795
If it were a 1.8l SOHC 4-banger with 130hp, it would be.
>>
>>14688877
You don't think it's excessive to rebuild a street engine after 100k km?

Nice full house, checked.
>>
>>14688671

They can. They re-lease or re-finance it (usually to somebody of color) for 40% interest. They think they're smart because they avoided the "off the lot depreciation" then the first $15k service comes that's not covered under warranty...

tldr: don't buy these things used.
