What causes an automatic car to shudder/kill itself when shifting into R or D after its warmed up?

ICV?

What the fuck
>>
if it drives fine cold it's probably not the transmission but check the fluid anyway

torque converter stalling the engine?
>>

trans shifts beautifully. Recently replaced ALL seals in it, front, rear, front pump, all orings, etc

it doesnt do this while cold and it seems like its running better and better but still dies at stop signs after an hour of running non stop.

No check engine light- Tightened my throttle body cable last night and Ive been putting 93 octane gas in it, seems to help some....

What causes this problem? Only happens after about an hour of constant driving

Also when we re-did the transmission I inspected the torque converter, no major scarring, no wound-n grooves, pretty solid considering the mileage,

The bentley manual suggested I look at ICV first...

is this cam sensor something I can clean or will it need replacing?

Check the iac hose. It could've deteriorated with age. The valve itself isn't cheap and cleaning is only temporary.
>>
if it's like GM at all just unplug the icv with key on for a minute then reconnect and start and it will relearn idle.

might have to clean your intake. last time I did, and I suspect the first time it was ever done, my icv had a thick layer or crud on the tip.

also cam position sensors or pretty famous for causing this all of a sudden. a dirty icv will gradually get worse of thousands of miles.
>>
you need a new johnson rod
>>
Check your vacuum hose connections especially going to the intake system.
>>
>>14676103

In the last thread you claimed that you already replaced the ICV

You're STILL trying to fix this piece of shit?

We told you, you don't have the mechanical aptitude to fix this thing. It's something to do with the transmission.

You'll spend more money taking it to a specialist than the car is worth. Move on.
>>
>>14676201
Spoken like a true retard

why don't you go back to the autozone parking lot, Jose.
>>
>>14676197
You can test the ICV by attempting to idle.

idle does just fine man. even after its warm, its just when you switch it into R or D it shudders/dies

not normal. it should apply residual boost on rpms and not sudder at all

ICV would do this while warm right?

Having a tiff with mine. First new(ish) car. Most modern car I ever drove before was a 2004 buick regal. Now I am driving a 2007 toyota yaris. Drives and shifts smooth but when i hit a steep hill and it downshifts it seems to hang a bit...long in the gear. I crest the hill and instead of shifting back into higher gear it stays in the lower gear until i hit the bottom of the hill. Is this normal or part of adaptive transmissions? 2007 toyota yaris with 233k miles. I did have them flush the transmission and add some lucas to it for good measure. Even if its not bad at that mileage i want to keep it running for a long time.
>>
>>14676469
>flush the transmission and add some lucas
Probably the two worst things you could've done.
>>
>>14676469
Yes it's normal. My 2001 civic doesn't shift up after being in a low gear as early as I think it should sometimes. The computer probably just wants to be sure it won't need to downshift again. And Lucas is shit. You dun goofed.
>>
>>14676469
flushing without replacing the filter is bad anon.
>>
>>14676339
Can you keep it alive by giving it some gas right after shitfing into drive?
>>
>>14676339
>idle does just fine
>when you switch it into R or D it shudders/dies
That's not idling fine. That's an idle failure.
