Arnold Schwarzenegger recieved by president Dimitri Medvedev in 2010, in a GAZ Chaika.
The ZIL limousines might have been the official car for the first secretary of the communist Party, the Chaika was given as a protocol gift to any visiting ambassador as well as every new new first secretary in the socialist republics.
After Nikita Khrushchev, who prefered it to the ZIS-110 and ZIL-111, broke the protocol a couple times and used his own Chaika during official appearences, it was then also given as a personnal car to the first secretary of the Union
They are still often seen in receptions and other official events.

Molotov, director of ZIL Ivan Likhachev, Stalin, Ordzhonikidze (then member of the Politburo), Mikoyan (who was then minister of foreign trade), all posing in front of the first ZIS-110 coming from a newly renovated plant in 1936. Said plant was modernized in cooperation with american corporations. It was also renamed after Stalin.

After all the politics had been taken care of, the unification of the two german football federations, signed in a Trabant 601 in november 1990.

Fiat Lingotto factory's rooftop, in Turin, Italy. Finished in 1923, this building was a major manufacturing plant; parts were handled in the first floors, while the buliding process of the cars continued to the upper floors. The finished cars came out on the test track, built on the rooftop of the building.

It was closed down in 1982, but it's still open to public today.

Not exactly on the level of Mercedes advertising, but well Mercedes and VW were banned here, so they had virtually no competitors since the Wartburg 311 was not only aging but also produced in much smaller quantity and the 353 was not there yet.
