I'm looking into getting a 06 Mazda 6 GT /o/
>multiple 4/5 ratings on various sites
>decent styling
> 274 HP
>AWD
>Great reliability ratings

Do you believe at $4,000 that this is a good choice? I still have a month to decide.

Where did you come up with 274hp?
>>
>>14667205
weren't these cars known for having a very unreliable engine/turbo setup? i could have sworn i've seen complaints about the engine grenading itself at random times.
>>
>>14667205

I figure I should just go and point out that a Mazda6 GT is not a Mazdaspeed6.

What's the difference

Not OP, might be a good time to ask.

Does anyone own or have any experience with these? RCR said these things have fuel starvation problems when you floor the gas for extended periods of time, but as I recall a modified one Matt Farah drove didn't have any aftermarket fuel pump and the guy claimed he got it to 145mph or something with no problem.

If I wanted to track one, is fuel starvation really an issue on these things? Would an aftermarket fuel pump really be necessary to avoid fucking my engine?

I think it was related to the shoddy fuel pump quality on the MS6. Not sure if the MS6 and plain old 6 GT share the same fuel pump, or if it would even make a difference.

In the meantime, better to be safe than sorry. Especially if that thing is going on a track.

In my family, we have a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 and a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6. The Mazdaspeed 6 is fun as hell, and has pretty good economy. Depending on the trim, its a very comfortable car. We have the GT trim

Here is some key points about the mazdaspeed series:
>do not shift between 2000 and 3000 rpm's. This will damage the conrods, so either shift before the turbo spools at 2000, or until peak torque at 3000 rpms (and higher).
>second gear is a clunker. Clutch out slowly after putting it in second
>you will need a new rear motor mount to prevent the sudden jump of the engine against the firewall when shifting in very high rpm's

Regardless, it's an AMAZING car. I purchased it over a WRX, and I love my decision.

Mazda 6 GT is the FWD V6. Mazdaspeed 6 is the AWD MZR 2.3L engine one. It's a completely different car than the Mazda 6 GT

He means Mazdaspeed6, not just 6 GT. OP, I have a 2006 MS6 and love it. Would recommend.

The 3L V6 has no vvt and makes like 190hp

been looking at Mazda 6 all week.

There are some on offer where I am (UK) for decent money but they have massive mileage.

Some of my mates are telling me that diesels are fine even over 100,000 miles.

Can anyway verify this and give me some advice?

> pic related - one I've been looking at. The Bose sound system is a big selling point

What If I Turbocharge the Duratec Motor?

I want a Tribute 5 Speed for hauling purposes and some sleeper goodness.

I have a 2011 6i Touring, it's great.

As far as the the diesel goes, I'm not sure. The 4cyl has been great or 30,000mi so far. It handles it's somewhat chunky 3200lbs curb weight just well. Handling is top tier stock and god tier with aftermarket suspension. You'd be hard pressed to make it oversteer without really pushing.

Interior is pretty comfy with good features in the GT and Touring Plus (Roommate has a 2013 6 GT).

Overall one of the best DD I've driven. Know it is not a straight line beast, but is still extremely fun.

I have 2008 6. Bose is super shit

I dunno, if it is the 2.5 MZR(Duratec), it is basically the 2.3 DISI that's been bored, stroked, and has the same forged Internals. It has a compression ratio of 9.7:1 so there is some room. I'd put money on pulling 250whp+ out of these engines but I've only seen it done to a Mazda 3.

Personally I'd like to see a supercharged version because muh low end torque.
