Brand whores mostly. Saying you have a passat sounds "more luxurious" than having a superb.

That said, I like the new superb. It looks much better, and they like to give tons of viewing room for the driver, with pillars that are not a size of a full grown tree. Also the top trim version has the 286hp engine from the leon cupra + 4wd, so it accelerates to 100 kmh at around 5 seconds, which is pretty cool.

To be honest, red and blue Skodas look infinetely better then their dull VW counterparts nowadays. Octavia RS in blue is especially sexy. It'd be pretty easy to convince my gf to go for a Skoda instead of a VW.

I don't know about you, but here in Yurop, Passats are generally shitboxes, while high-end Skoda's like the Superb are better maintained. They're definitely considered better.

Skodas are worshiped here, to the point that they are using them as taxis, policecars and in the private security sector, but not so much in germany or italy and spain. They think german cars are more luxurious, and volkwagen makes the cheaper ones, so they flood to them.

Wierd. Dutchfag here, and it's the other way around. Police exclusively uses VW, Volvo and low-end Audi. Skodas and Seats are generally considered better. Also, less shitskins driving Skodas compared to VW's (althought there's a fair amount of them driving early 2000's Seats).

I think since VW took over Skoda, they've lost that bad impression with most people. They're really popular in the UK, loads of Taxis use them now.

Britfag here. You say a hell of a lot of newer Octavias around, and they're popular as cabs. The police don't really use them though, which is odd because I bet a chipped VRS Tdi estate would be a perfect pursuit car.
