What's the largest vehicle you'd be willing to drive?
What's the smallest vehicle?

If you had a truck like pic relate with a crew cab and 8 foot bed, how much trouble would you have getting around and finding places to park due to its sheer size? Is there a bigger automobile than that readily available to consumers?
>>
>>14661168
I've driven a crew cab long bed and loved it. Best towing setup I've ever touched. Parking/driving them isn't a big issue here, I only ever had trouble when I was driving one in downtown Portland.

I'd also go as small as a Samurai or CJ5. Anything under 80" wheelbase starts to get redonkulous though.
>>
>>14661168
Look at how much that thing leaked just sitting there
>>
>>14661189
That's from snowmelt on the parking lot, not the truck, look at the background of the picture.
>>
>What's the largest vehicle you'd be willing to drive?
Something used E-Class sized. Roughly 16 by 6 feet footprint plus mirrors. The standard parking space in Germany is 5 meters long or 16.5 feet, so anything exceeding that length will cause you royal pains on a daily basis, and personally I find driving wide vehicles rather stressful, too. Modern cars are all horribly wide, and unlike old cars they have giant mirrors on them as well.

>What's the smallest vehicle?
Miata.
>>
The longest vehicle I've driven is a 1980 F350 chassis cab with a 16' Jerr-Dan rollback, with a 7-series on the bed and a Wrangler on the tow bar. Driving that through Chicago and Milwaukee rush hours was interesting.

The shortest vehicle I've driven is a Smart fortwo.
>>
>>14661168
DD'd crew cab shortbed here in Yurop for several week, 80% of the time hauling a trailer. I managed. I'm comfortable with, say, a Transporter van.

Smallest I'd drive would be a motorcycle. I've driven 50cc mopeds for example.

As a DD, nothing bigger than a mid-size pickup.

But my preference is smaller, I just wish they made a competent compact SUV/Crossover. They're all gutless shitboxes or overpriced, unreliable trash like LandRover and Porsche.

Its not that bad. Driving a 26' box truck was pretty crazy though.

Smallest I've driven is a cavalier, but I wouldn't ever do a motorcycle as a daily.
>>
>>14661215
Wait. Biggest I 'drove' would be a horse drawn wagon carrying a 40 meter long pine tree trunk(?), drawn by four horses (2x2). Now that thing was interesting. Parking was a bitch though.
>>
>>14661235
Can you parallel park horses?
>>
>>14661241

not with a trailer but i have seen them do a side step during those Olympic fancy-dancing for horses competitions

horses > cars
>>
>>14661241
Yes, but shifting into reverse is pretty hard on most models.
>>
>>14661246
You can reverse a horsecart if you know what you're doing. Just gotta train the horse to walk in reverse, that's the hard part. I can reverse about 30 feet before the it tries to scissor.

I've driven everything as small as my WRX STI to my father's dump truck GMC C8500. I live in New Orleans and our streets were built for.... Parking on one side of the street and it's still crampt. So it's fun as fuck to drive big shit through my neighborhood

One street I drive down is a 25mph zone, but people who don't drive it daily can't stomach more than 15mph and constantly braking.

There are definitely bigger vehicles you can daily. International makes a truck called the MXT, a few people in my town have them. Absolutely nuts.

I like being able to close my tailgate with plywood or drywall in the bed. Seven feet isn't long enough.

I reckon a swb Jaguar XJ is about as big as I'd go, and even then I'd have serious reservations about it. Extra space I don't need is just inconveniencing me, really. I reckon something about Skoda Octavia/Mk1 Mondeo size would be about right.

If it I lived in a particularly tight city, though, I'd happily drive a tuned up Kei car.

(UK based) Our everyday roads don't accomodate US big really well. You see the US army personnel who bring over thier SUV's and they just look massive. The mini was real fun, drove like a go cart, felt fast, cheap (it needed to be) and spares plentiful. It would obviously look like an alien landing craft in the US.

I've driven plenty of box trucks with a 20'x9' box before, but they're not the type of thing you park and leave unattended.

I'd have no problem driving an American sized truck, or a small car like a Mini Minor, Fiat 500, Austin 7 or a Kei Truck.

Won't drive a Smart car or anything both small and modern though.

My daily is either an older E Class and its just about perfect even if I have to skip some spaces.

I can't stand small cars. Or at least DDing them. I would never want to go smaller than a mid sized sedan, preferably closer to full size. Ford Fusion, BMW 5-Series, etc. is like the smallest I would want to do. Would be much more comfortable in a Taurus or 7-Series sized car.

My Escape isn't too bad. Higher ride height is nice. But I would like something a little bigger. Another Explorer or Grand Cherokee would be perfect. Newer Chevy Tahoe is getting close to the largest as far ad an SUV. Maybe F-150. But when you start getting up to F-250 sized trucks with crew cabs and a long bed, it can be a pain to back into normal spots.

I would still DD a T800 daycab if I got the chance.
>>
>>14661400

>don't buy a 4 cylinder SUV ever

Sounds like you are a highwayfag.

Why an SUV if you are on the road all the time?

Nobody ever wants to own an International. If Paccar or even Daimler made something like that, I would tell you to go for it. But modern Internationals are literally worse than GM and FCA combined as far as reliability, lemons, and shit breaking when it should last 150k miles.

I can't stand large vehicles. I become panicky and nervousin something so big, not having 100% view of my entire car at all times.

Therefore, smallest I'd be willing to drive? Go-kart or sports bike. Most comfortable with something agile with modest acceleration. That's why I buy mostly roadsters.

Largest I've ever had and be willing to drive is a mid-sized sedan. I have no need for the extra space backseats and a large trunk take up.
>>
Ill drive anything thats any size, not like You all and I have much choice in the matter anyways.
>>
>>14661340
I'm 6'5" and I like to have a roomy car so I don't get stiff during my 45 minute commute. I need something bigger than a golf thanks.
>>
I drove an Econoline van for a short time, and now my DD is an '89 Bronco. I'm also the go-to driver for U-Hauls amongst my group of friends, apparently. I'm also perfectly comfortable on a 50cc scooter. I wouldn't want to DD anything much larger than the Bronco, honestly. I don't use it for anything more than hauling my own ass and a backpack around at most, so any more space than that would just be useless to me. The scooter can be fun as fuck, though. It's a janky piece of Chink shit and I love the goddamn thing. Granted, it'll only hit about 40, but Christ, getting 100mpg is nice.

As far as parking, once you know where your vehicle is and how to judge your turn ins for parking large vehicles, it's not much worse than any other DD really. Fuck, I've seen a motherfucker with a Nissan Cube consistently park in just about the worst possible way while still being within his space. It's just a matter of familiarity with your vehicle more than anything else. Well, maybe besides actually giving a shit about how well you park.

I've actually done that before. '85 F-350 with the stick shift. That thing was so hard to park and drive in the city I just left it parked for weeks on end. It was a locomotive, and I just wasn't using it for its designed purpose to justify the trouble of reparking it and driving it in city traffic.

Live in rural Canada so, size isn't really an issue. Anything past the size of a box truck or something i'd probably feel uncomfortable with. Also wouldn't want to DD a box truck, but wouldn't mind driving one for a while, or a job.

Would DD truck like OP's pic. Smallest would be something like a geo metro, which i've been looking hard to find but they're all either marked up like crazy or just non existant.

There really are no limits in size to what I'd drive, maybe for DD use, but not overall.

I DD an E30, it's a fairly small car by modern standards, and I like its size. I would certainly own a pickup like the one pictured in the OP if I had practical need for it, but as it stands I am fine with an extended cab long bed 3/4 ton class truck.

As for small, I really want to build a Steyr Puch Bergspyder replica (with more power) to drive around on nice days and take to autocross/track days. This is not a smaller vehicle than my semi-DD motorcycle, even though it's not as tall. Picture related.

False.

You can re-activate the cannon with the proper tools and parts, and just a $200 tax stamp with the ATF and own ammo for it as long as its not explosive rounds.

And actually you can own explosive rounds but each one requires a $200 tax stamp so just stick to non-explosive rounds if you hate your wallet not quite enough to spend over $200 per shot.

>>14670848
Actually BTRs have machine guns, not cannons.
I don't think you can get single shot DShks in America or sell ammo for one, you could always buy your own machine gun though. There might be an M2 for sale somewhere.

Theres enough m2s in the world to the point where theres probably always at least a handful for sale

I drive a metro, so there's my smallest.

I have driven a crew cab 8 ft. bed truck before, but I didn't care for it much. Just about anything bigger than my tiny car feels too big, but that's just because I'm used to my car. After spending a while behind the wheel of a standard cab truck I couldn't imagine driving something with less rear viability, but now I do.
>>
It is not that hard to drive a large vehicle as long as you don't care about parking far away and not going downtown.

When I worked at a car lot I had to drive a manual v10 350 with the CCLB. Was kind of a pain in the ass but oh well. Biggest problem is that it had a bad clutch and didn't like to catch, 2wd, and this was in Alaska.

Currently I have a supercab longbed on order. Wheel base is 163.5 or so and overall length is I think 2 feet shorter than OPs picture. Isn't really that bad.

To each their own. But I am unsure I would want to live without that extra foot and a half.

If I was going to settle for a 6.5ft bed I would just get a van.
>>
I wouldn't drive anything bigger than a Crown Vic

I wife told me I needed to get rid of my truck and get a van. I brought home paperwork for the import of a czech troop transport.

Needless to say I ended up ordering a new truck.

I drove a 30' RV one time and it was fucking terrifying to be honest. The thing had so much body roll it felt like it was gonna tip over on every gentle turn.

Ah, America.

Here in the UK, you can own a tank without paperwork beyond anything to import it. Unless you're buying it up from a scrapyard.
Then you just need licenses for the weight and tracks, and rubber pads for the tracks to avoid being fined for chewing the shit out of the road.

And a regular driving license means you can literally drive ANYTHING on a provisional basis.

I DD a 2005 P71 Crown Victoria (with pushbar) and I have no trouble parking it anywhere. My car is bigger than small SUVs and some trucks. I work downtown and park underground so I can't go much bigger than that though. Maybe a standard cab full size truck but I can't go bigger if I want to drive to work. I've also driven a '79 Hilux (2wd shortbed standard cab) and I wouldn't want to go too much smaller than that. I've been in (but not driven) both a yaris and a fiat 500 (?) and while those slightly shorter than my old truck, they were a lot wider and were arguably bigger and definitely taller pre-lift.

Oh and to add to this, I've driven my stepfathers '84 Silverado (2wd, single cab, long bed, bed cap) and it felt like a smaller but much higher version of my car. It's about the same size and, other than not having reverse, it's just as easy to park. I've also driven an Xterra and it was like a short and tall version of my car. It's way too small for what it is though. My friend has a truck like in the OP, an old F250 fullsize lifted monster and its too big to dd. There was consistently nowhere to park it. It was big, comfy, slow, and a gas guzzler (holy shit I swear that thing got gallons per mile) and nothing could beat it for hauling junk but it's just too big in the city.

I'm looking for another minitruck though right now since that's the smallest I would want to go. At worst, I'll settle for something the size of an f150 (single cab long bed or ext cab short bed) since that's the largest I can go.

Largest vehicle I would be willing to DD?

Maybe an extended cab long bed pick up or a crew cab short bed. Crew cab long bed would be too much of a pain in the ass while maneuvering around tight parking lots or areas.

Smallest?

Probably like a Smartcar. Would probably be pretty nice to drive actually. Like a go-kart with a cab.

>my camaro won't fit on half your roads

I once visited England and I was surprised at how smooth and wide most of their roads were.

In fact. The proclaimed "too small for traffic" roads were still broad enough to fit most vehicles.

You could get a 4 ton truck down most "small" roads no problem, but you see these folks have no idea how to drive and estimate clearance so the think that their roads are smaller than they actually are.

If you took over a dually f-350 you would have no problem unless you went into a multi story car park.
