heads up; this thing will sell alright but depreciate like crazy because of the badge, when really the engine has been shown to be reliable in other platforms and everything else is mazda

this will be a fucking incredible used car performance bargain
>>
It's way too cool and exotic looking for the value to plummet, sorry.
>>
>>14612356
fiat badge
you underestimate how much a badge can fuck with value
>>
I'm just sad because as a no job fag I will probably be able to afford one in about 10 years. On the upside, I'll pay 30% of the original price. I just hope that the Mazda parts don't rust to all hell before I can afford it, cause this car, other than an NC Miata, looks like will be one of the few cars that will be worthy replacing my E36.
>>
>>14612359
this, 500's aint holding there value worth shit
>>
>>14612373
For how long do you think you'll be between jobs?
>>
>>14612356
cool and exotic looking? the fuck are you on, the toyota roadster concept thingy looks way better than this shitheap.
>>
>>14612373
How old are you? What's your experience?

>turbocharged
>160hp
You get 160hp from a typical economy-car naturally-aspirated 4-banger.
>>
>>14616026

No you don't on an 1.4l
>>
>>14616031
>engine is undersized
>engine is also turbo
>turbo doesnt mean shit the engine is so fucking small the power it makes is on par with a normally sized i4
>>
>>14616031
I get 160hp on my 2.4l
>>
>>14616026
But 160 hp in a roughly 2400lb car is like having 240 in a 3200 lb car. That's actually pretty good.
>>
>>14612504
this, just checked, but you can get a new abarth 500 for 30k but 2013's are selling for 11-13k for 20-30 thousand miles its obscene
>>
>>14616383
so you get 66hp per liter
bravo!
>>
>>14616026
that's the european spec, usa specs always end up more powerful

ballpark around 200hp based on other instances of cars being weaker in their european spec

also tuners have had some success with the 1.4 in the abarth 500, getting to 225 without much trouble and little cost.

so, does 225hp sound better to you?
>>
>>14616431
Hp/liter is meaningless
>>
>>14616993
>specific power is meaningless

Do you even engineer m8?
>>
>>14617631
Specific power is indeed meaningless if you aren't in a racing series or totalitarian state that limits how much displacement your engine can have.
>>
>>14617648
I repeat myself: do you even engineer m8?

Check out what specific power is, please.
>>
>>14612349
>black hood
too ricey, who the fuck thought this looks nice?
>>
>>14617648
>do you even engineer m8?
My bachelors degree says so, yes.

Again, hp/liter is meaningless if your liters of displacement aren't limited. If they are, reconsider your life choices.

Already talked to one of the senior auctioneers at our local closed/dealer only auction. They are predicting 35% of value lost in the first year, with the 1.5-2 year value at around 20K or less

Basically, they expect these things to follow the same depreciation curve as the 500 Abarth here in the US.
>>
>>14617659
it echoes the original 125 abarth and it's supposed to prevent sun glare.
it does look kinda ricey these days now that plastidip is a thing

>>14617688
jesus that sucks. It's great for buying used but i feel bad for anyone buying this thing new
>>
>>14617849

some cuck is gonna have to :^)
>>
>>14617659
You can opt out of it, is actually cheaper without I think.

Nvm I checked its same price with or without red mirrors/black hood or any combination of those.

Btw wouldnt it be sexy as fuck if hood hinges were at the front so hood opened opposite way than normal?
>>
>>14618023
no? how the fuck are you supposed to do anything? that thing is already Barbie size (and Barbie style)
>>
>>14618023
>wouldn't it be sexy to make it harder to work on for no reason?
>>
>>14612349

This thing won't sell.

The time for this kind of cars has passed.

Mazda owns the market.

Fiat as a brand is utter shit.

The engine, as all small size high output motors, won't have longevity without serious investment and maintenance.

As with all italian cars in the last decades it will be a flop.

Only the burgertards are unware of the trend that has been going on with italian automakers.
>>
>>14617688
any guesses if it will be possible to lease this thing? i don't even know if fiat leases abarth 500s
>>
>>14616773

Actually it's the other way around. EU spec have always a tad more power. And US cars are a tad under, so you can expect the car at around 150hp, at the crank.

And if you think you'll keep that measly 1.4 cranking around happily with 200hp for long, you're wrong.

Anything over 180 to 190 and reliability is seriously compromised. And even at those values the wear and tear will be a lot higher.

So whoever has greased you up with those values was pulling your leg.
>>
Looking forward to getting one for cheap out of college.

they're probably doing the same thing for the 124
>>
>>14619749

>caranddriver

Have you gone full retarded?
>>
>>14619783
website aside, read the first paragraph about american vs european tunes
>>
>>14619791

The article is wrong. Multiairs are available in Europe.
>>
>>14618023
My E21 opens backwards, I actually quite like it.
>>
>>14612504

Because 500s aren't acceptable and are in a flooded market, like all other mini hatchbacks.

It's a convertible with a reliable engine.

If it's a good drive, then it might break into the MX-5 market.

They just need to market it competitively since new MX-5s are still pretty cheap as far as roadsters go.

Plus it shares a similar market with the hot hatch and hot hatches are fucking great at the moment.
>>
>>14619927
It's going to be more expensive than the ND, I hope it does good since it means Mazda will make money off it but I doubt it
>>
>>14619947
I don't think there will be any issue around them selling well. The car has already generated a ton of buzz and interest

>>14619749
Top manager at Alfa here in raleigh pretty much confirmed to me the US Spec will be right at 200hp from the showroom floor
>>
>>14620365
>200hp stock ND miata
>with stiffer springs and shocks and better brakes and that amazing exhaust note
jesus christ
this may be the first new car i ever buy
>>
>>14620448
Dude, the struggle is real. I've gone round and round on if I should just bite the bullet, order one exactly the way I want it, and just deal with the cuckery of knowing Fiat deprecation will kick me in the balls or wait it out a year or so, and essentially pick one up half price, but throw myself on the mercy of the used market and being able to find one in the color/options I want
>>
>>14620537
Patience anon.

You can buy two fiatas for the price of one if you wait.
>>
>>14620542
It will really depend on what things look like when the Fiat/Alfa dealership can get me a build sheet. Being able to spec the car exactly the way i want it (especially if there end up being some interesting/rare options packages) could win me over.
>>
>>14620537
it doesn't sound like there will be many options, honestly i'd just buy one new to vote with my dollar saying "YES, PLEASE MAKE THIS KIND OF CAR"

on the other hand, the tesla model 3 is coming out basically a year later and financially i can only really support one 30 grand car at a time....

ugh, i kind of hope the model 3 looks like shit inside and out so i can dismiss it
>>
>>14620633
See, I'm spared the agony because an electric car, even the model 3, wouldn't work for me here on the east coast, and I never even liked the interior on the model S
>>
>>14620651
in all honesty if they make a model 3 wagon i'm going to go for that, bar none, even better if they pair it with some kind of performance package.
>>
Could end up like the Toyobaru. It was expected to sell and quickly become a cheap sports car for younger people. But no one bought them, now the used market is a lot slimmer than predicted and keeps the price up.
>>
>>14620721
i thought they were selling alright?
>>
>>14622414
Sales outside the US have slowed somewhat. In the US, the BRZ is starting to sell much better than the FR-S (8814 YTD sales on the BRS vs barely over 1000 on the FR-S)
>>
Shame the car looks so boring and bland.
>>
>>14623123
Fiata is going to be awesome though
>>
>>14612356
I don't think know how markets work.
