>tfw your car broke down and costs significantly more than the value of the car to fix, and has broken down like 6 times in 6 months anyway so it's time to call it quits
>tfw this is your local craigslist http://eastidaho.craigslist.org/search/cta
>tfw you only have 2000 dollars

What the shit do I do? My job requires a 4 door car. If I don't have one I get fired, and all of these just look like I'm going to buy them and get fucked when it breaks down and I have a client in the car (I'm a social worker).

Halp

There's fuckin tons within your price range, the fuck are you worried about? Talk them down and strike a deal.

Oh forgot to add
>tremendous amount of debt due to retarded medical shit and school

I don't know how the fuck to buy a car that won't pull the exact same shit my last one did
I mean who's to say they're not all total pieces of shit that aren't going to work

That's not a four door car. If you are too retarded to take a photo of your car, then the work industry isn't for you anyway.
>>
>>14478160
Headgasket thingie is warped or broken
Radiator is shot to shit
Alignment is totally permanently fucked on the back 2 wheels.

I just...I feel fucking overwhelmed, I just graduated a few months ago, finally got a job which is contingent upon having a 4 door car, and it breaks down on me 11 days in. I have $dick for money to replace it and I'm scared I'll spend the last money I have and then that one breaks too.
>>
>>14478178
I didn't take a picture of my car that's a search for "broken honda" on google images, like the 4th result. My car is currently awaiting the sweet, sweet $50 I get from the salvage yard.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I don't know how I would get to fucking Boise without a car and to that specific person's house, I live 4 hours away from that but I appreciate it, I will contact these people.
>>
>>14478188

What kind of car are we dealing with here? Those aren't hard problems to fix on most cars, unless it's been wrecked or something.
>>
You could try not being such a timid puss, for starters. At the price you're looking at you don't have a lot of options. Pick one. Get history if possible.

Avoid European cars. They're reliable but they're so much more expensive to repair.

Avoid Ford, they're fucking trash.

If all you need is a DD 4-door sedan, go Honda or Toyota.
>>
>>14478223
This is like the 4th time it's overheated after the gasket sealant trick was done by a more savvy car person than I am.

The wheel alignment is permanently off because my wife crashed the car years ago and it can't be fixed without...doing something that costed a lot more money than it was worth.
>>
>>14478068

This is a bit newer and in your budget but it probably needs to have the plugs changed which is a $200 job because 3 of them are under the plenum
>>
>>14478238
Well the labor for replacing a head gasket I was quoted 700 dollars.

This is the 5th or 6th time its broken down. The first time it broke down, the radiator literally exploded. Car was fine, driving down the interstate, then it was smoking so I immediately pulled over. Radiator shot all over everything.

Replaced radiator.

Car overheated again. Place that did it didn't put new lines in to the radiator so they were cracked and leaking.

Replaced lines.

Car overheated again.

Replaced thermometer and something else that was required.

Car worked kinda okay.

Car overheated again today. Took it to two places, was looking at 800+ to fix it at least.
>>
>>14478230

You don't want a shitty high-miles supercharged car. That thing will grenade soon and won't be worth fixing.

You want a car that's reliable and cheap to maintain. Look at a Corolla/Chevy Prizm.

This tells me you're an idiot and your mechanic is an idiot or a con artist. Stupid desperate people are like free money to a shady mechanic.

The fact you're taking Craigslist car advice from /o/ seems to support this. Do your own research. I know social workers are useless but seriously, be an adult.

Don't you have friends, family or coworkers you can ask? It's always worth going out of your way to get the best deal you can. Uber if you gotta.

http://eastidaho.craigslist.org/cto/5401809557.html

This one could be a whole new headache for you but it's only $950 and supposedly all fixed mechanically. Again, the Crown Vics will be better than these Taurus by a mile and that Buick is kind of in the middle... but supercharged so...

I agree that the Buick is probably more than he needs but that 58000 mile Crown Vic will go forever for him and I'm sure the seller will come down from $3000 if OP is as sad as he comes across.

http://ogden.craigslist.org/cto/5430377055.html

Here's a $900 accord that would leave enough in OP's bank account to replace the radiator when it falls apart.
>>
>>14478366
Bro no one is saying that the car that fits that budget doesn't exist, simply that I have no fucking idea if that car is going to just go to shit and then everyone's like LOL of course that one would go to shit why would you buy that

The assholes are trying to help you. Someone with poor life skills moving from one emergency to another is going to get screwed every single time. You're a social worker, you should know this. Everything you've posted in this thread reeks of fear and desperation.

You need to step back and do some objective research about what you're dealing with. Any car you buy for under $2K is going to blow up unless it gets a good deal of preventative maintenance. That's what happened to your current car. You just drove it from one problem to another instead of fixing it all up.
>>
>>14478467
>Subarus are reliable
Stop pushing this shit /o/
>>
>>14478476
There are plenty of reliable cars available for $2000, smugfag. Next paycheck, all fluids and filters changed, good tires paycheck after that.

I suspect your suggestion for OP would be to repair his credit then lease or purchase a new car. Real helpful.
>>
>>14478461
unless you know how to inspect a car before you buy it. I put my old $500 wagon through 300,000 additional miles after the previous owner did 150,000. Just gotta know what to look for
>>
>>14478510
Except most will have issues, badly taken car of engines, horrible condition transmissions.

All the interior missing with a wooden chair for the driver.
>>
>>14478068
This is your best bet, at least from the first page. Escorts are easy as fuck to work on, and very cheap.
http://eastidaho.craigslist.org/cto/5450471420.html
>>
>>14478510
>There are plenty of reliable cars available for $2000, smugfag.

There are but OP has no clue what he's looking at. Most cars in that price range are being sold by people in OP's situation so they're probably poorly maintained.

I see this ALL the time. Poor people spend more money on used cars than rich people because everything's an emergency and they're at the mercy of whatever happens that day. I'm telling OP take a breath and think. He can't make a decision like this. He's taking advice without evaluating it.
>>
2005-2008 focus. cheap, plentiful, reasonably reliable and many 4 doors available. Hondas and Toyotas are good but are significantly more expensive considering age and mileage. Since you have little money, focus is a good option.
>>
>>14478068
why exactly do you need a 4 door car to get to work? and there are plenty of beaters out there for sale under 2k
>>
>>14478522
That's why I said unless he knows mechanics. Not a person, but the actual thing.
>>
>>14478634
Probably because he hauls around lowlifes.
>>
>>14478068
Buy this

>>
>>14478712
>http://eastidaho.craigslist.org/cto/5452763919.html
you're seriously suggesting a car with an automatic transmission at that price point?
>>
>>14478634
I know uber has that requirement.
>>
>>14479084
They also have a maximum age limit on the cars (like 10 years or something) so I doubt that's what OP needs it for
>>
>>14478634
When you are carrying around several people that have severe mental issues from being molested or beaten or abandoned, you need the ability to have people get in and out of all 4 doors and not be jumping behind a very jumpy para-schizo's car seat
>>
>>14478223
>wheel alignment is only $40
Was $90 with tax for me today, and on top of that they tried to pull the old "oh we can't because we made up all this other bullshit that needs replacing in the front end" Fuckin' Pepboys. Pretty much everyone in my area is around $70+tax though.
