i would like a game where I can do real endurance races (2+ hrs in length) with active pitting in single player. Basically, I'd like to play a newer version of GTR2. I own assetto corsa, and I'm familiar with the URD eGT mod, but they don't actually include any information regarding if it adds AI pitstops to AC.

tl;dr looking for recommendations for either AC mods or a good sim which can recreate multiclass endurance racing with pit stops in single player, a la GTR2

McLaren got lucky with the BoP; Audi got nerfed too hard. Chiyo with GT Academy defended last year's win honorably but I guess VanGisbergen deserved it. He drove well I think he set a new lap record during the race. but it was a good race.

Have Codemasters done it and finally made a true racing sim with Dirt Rally? There's no flashbacks and you can't turn damage off. It seems pretty hardcore at first.

One thing that bothers me is that there doesn't seem to be any tire compound choices before the stage. and you can't choose the number of spares to bring with you. I haven't gotten that far yet so maybe I overlooked it in the menu.

But tire choice is supposed to be a part of rallying strategy. Depending on the length and the surface of the stage, you can choose to take the softer grippier tires or the more durable harder compound. Carrying one spare instead of two or no spares at all to save weight is a part of the rules.

WRC4 was the same way with no tire choices. And WRC 4 was based on 2013 rules, so I thought the tire choices was a regulation problem. So I expected Dirt Rally to have tire compound selection. I'm almost tempted to try WRC5 just to see if it has tire choice. but I may just have missed it in the menu or something.

That's true pCARS is unnecessarily hard on the GPU. I don't have a fancy rig and I'm scared to run it above low-med settings.
Loading and saving replays is also a pain in the ass and inefficient. I always have to check temps on Speedfan while playing pCARS since I don't have liquid cooling or any of that crazy shit. SMS need to redo some software code and get it more streamlined.

I haven't played the Crew (skipped it based off the demo) but I like pCARS more than I thought I would. it's not as hardcore of a sim as RF2 or AC but it's fun and it gets some decent online play. the structure of it is much better than AC.

finished my first Dirt Rally championship with the Ford Escort MK2

the subie is also great and has the handling of the group b's with the speed of the escort (plus a bit more)
try out some of the group b cars and see if you like them

Dirt Rally is a 'driving a 300bhp car on gravel' simulator, just like RBR was, only newer.
All you get is nice looking/sounding cars (only the well-known/iconic ones), a few short stages and an okay driving model. Virtually no key features of rally, and if there are any, they're half-assed (often even quarter-assed).

It's a subjectively "fun" game, but in no way a comprehensive rally sim.

iirc you can just copy-paste your gid setting from the gsce folder.

I've found that in most sim racers, it's much easier for me to drift with an awd vehicle than it is with a RWD one. That said, I would think that awd drifting isn't so much drifting as it is power steering.
It's also much more common in awd drifting to be turning into the drift, rather than counter steering, like in normal drifting.

Is awd drifting still drifting then? And am I a pleb for having difficulty with rwd drifting?

I just tried playing the demo and it told me my GTX 970 isn't compatible with dx11 kek.

it worked after relaunching again but that was definitely weird. also, I have a 144hz monitor and the game isn't letting me set the refresh rate past 120hz for whatever reason. doesn't seem to have any clutch or h-shifter support either. the game doesn't feel awful but I'm not sure it's worth $60... both in a value sense and in a literal sense as it's only $40 on steam.
