Seems like the 05-09 GT devalued fast, they might be more valid once the price stops sinking. The previous GTs can run about the same for half the price, and aren't still losing so much value. And honestly, the reason why 3 valves devalued so fast is because of the DOHC 5.0.

Other than that, they are quite reliable. Others pointed out it doesn't have a 6 speed. It comes with a t-3650, and 3.55 rear end ( I think, i know there were some variations depending on the year GT). They do seem to be geared well for MPG, and good for 0-120 or so, depending on if you have a tune that ups the rev limiter. Although, they would benefit considerably from 3:73 (stock for the bullitt) or 4.10 for pure 60 ft times. I've always though the transmissions feel butter smooth, and easy to powershift without grindng a syncro, like the more notchy t56.

To sum it up, if you have the money, look at a newer gt. Otherwise buy an older one, just not the 96-98 4.6. Once the price on these levels out though, like 6-8k, while the previous GTs will be going for 4-6k, then they will be a good deal. And more specifically, the Bullitt should retain its value much better than the GT, hopefully, but obviously nothing like previous gen cobras or machs.
