Most FF cars are unapologetic shitboxes and are downright awful to drive, so it makes sense, really. There are so few that are actually nice to drive vs the millions that are shit. In today's market, RWD cars are far more likely to have had attention paid to the driving dynamics, whereas FWD is a cost and fuel saving measure that is at home in appliance cars.

In these places, we cannot hoon in our RWD cars when the weather is bad because we will slip and slide all over the place. The usual solution is to drop some sandbags in the rear to try to imitate FF traction, and while it helps, it hurts gas mileage and makes the car heavier.

Most cars in general are shit to drive, but proportionally, FWD has it worse. Why?
There are 3 reasons to do FWD in a modern car:

>better fuel economy
That's it, and it's why FWD is so overwhelmingly common; cost and efficiency are king in the mass-market.

There is only one reason to do RWD in a modern car:

More powerful cars are usually RWD because it eliminates torque steer and puts the power to the ground more effectively, cars designed for speed are usually RWD because it lends itself to better weight distribution, traction under acceleration and is less likely to suffer from understeer. You don't see RWD in shitboxes anymore because FWD is better for shitboxes, and you rarely see fast FWD cars because RWD is just better for speed and driving dynamics.

I've owned 11 cars (and trucks) and driven hundreds in all types of weather.
For fun on the track, with training, rw is great,
For bad weather; for undertrained drivers (everyone, and you); for controlability; for most situations most people will ever encounter, fwd is just better.
A _GOOD_ awd will kick ass in most situations.
FWD does have torque steer and is easy to understeer (which is easier to recover from than oversteer) and the wheels break free on a hard start, this is all true.
It also takes more engineering and more cost to make an FWD, so that argument is moot; they make them because they are safer.
Like RWD? Great! Me too! Have fun, but learn something before flaming someone for asking a question in the appropriate place.
