>gas will be 45 cents a gallon Monday

Nope. It takes a long time for price drops to find their way into your gas tank. And even then collusion amongst the major oil companies will keep things profitable. Look at California. It's only that expensive because they require a special blend of fuel, and several refineries which make it coincidentally had "unplanned maintenance events" simultaneously.

>Shortly thereafter I will become one of the already tens of thousands of people who have lost their jobs in the U.S. because of this.

Though low fuel prices benefit nearly every other aspect of the economy since nearly everything in the US is transported by truck at some point.

How will this effect the Canadian economy though?

All y'all may lose your jobs, but my business is going to be booming.

I adjust compasses for various maritime companies as well as the US Navy and Coast Guard. All this importing and exporting of cheap oil and having to cross hemispheres means I get constant work.
>>
>>14257884
hardly any crude oil is produced in the us now anyway its all natural gas.
>>
>>14257904
I know, but during the recent Omnibus what little oil we are refining and producing is now available for export.

This fucks over US jobs, but great for Europe. Also keeps me in business. I've done work on LNG Carriers and it's fucking nerve-racking.

The oil prices are low because Saudi Arabia is pumping out a fuckton of oil at a huge financial loss, just to hurt the U.S. producers. They can't keep it up forever, but while it's happening, they are pushing oil far below the price that U.S. drilling companies can make any money at, causing them to shut down and stop oil production. That, in turn, means that railroads have no oil to move to our coastal refineries, which are getting the cheaper oil delivered to their doorstep from the Saudi's on ships.
>>
>>14257970
Nope, sorry to disappoint. I know a Jesse but he doesn't work for the railroad.
>>
>>14258065
Fuck Saudi Arabia... It makes me happy knowing that they're the biggest welfare state in the world, and in a few years they're going to be riding camels and killing one another.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

22 years in the USCG as a quartermaster, navigator, and boatswain mate. My old friend offered me a job after I retired, and I accepted.

Magnetic compass adjusting is a dying art, like masonry. People still do it, but we all set the price for everything.

>>14258141
It's not just cheap oil, it's the House of Saud.

They're responsible for 9/11. They're responsible for the rise and spread of wahhabism, and the version of Islam currently infesting the world with violence. They're responsible for murdering political activists, and bribing our own government.

Cheap oil, whatever... but deliberately being malicious towards the US and our allies, and we throw billions of dollars at them a year.
>>
>>14258130
I don't think they are necessarily trying to hurt our entire economy, but rather that their main goal is to reduce competition in the oil industry. They want to run their competitors out of business, so they can then raise prices and sell to the places who are no longer producing their own oil. For most of the population, they just enjoy the cheap gas and go about their day. For numerous companies and probably over 100k people who have lost their jobs at this point, it has been a crushing blow to their businesses and thousands of families.

Well.. the USCG doesn't teach it anymore. I've taught so many people how to adjust compasses, but what they need to know is the mechanics of magnetism.

I can teach you on 1000 compasses, but if you don't understand magnetism you aren't going to do a good job. A lot of people who "adjust" compasses don't know what the fuck they're doing, and just sign off.
>>

>but what they need to know is the mechanics of magnetism.
>I can teach you on 1000 compasses, but if you don't understand magnetism you aren't going to do a good job

Well I'm probably capable of that, I'm halfway though a degree in electrical engineering and doing pretty well, but I'm looking to drop it or change majors because I really hate this shit and I hate the industry I'll be working in. Electrical Engineering and the schooling is depressing.

Production in the permian basin is at all time historical highs and shows zero signs of stopping any time in the near future
The rag heads putting the squeeze on foreigners will have little impact on the big guys in the permian basin. Canadians gonna get fucked though as well as people who can't keep their production costs down low enough

The rag heads can't keep this up much longer, it's not financially viable for them.

Either way everyone buying up big while it's bottoming out are going to see massive profit s throughout the next three years

Yes, California has higher gasoline taxes. But gas prices there have been RISING as they drop everywhere else. It's a supply issue.

Dont think so anon.

Dont know what your going on about. When I went to California a few years ago gas was over $4 for 87 in LA. Average price for gas in California is now $2.77. Seems to me gas has fallen there, like everywhere else.

gasbuddy is wrong, locally a large drop of .80- $1 happened b/c the whole opec price war (like other anon said it was over $4) and then it pretty much bottomed out with an extra .30-.50 cents in the last few months. there was no rise in cost. my guess is decreased tourist and local demand for my area and the winter fuel switchover.
