Good if you don't plan on modding it and can do your own maintenance. Otherwise you'll find the lack of aftermarket will have you slower than modded A4s and your bank account drained from the service bills.

But they're sweet cars, if you decide to get one make sure it has good service history and a recent carbon cleaning.

its got a fair bit of aftermarket actually, but mods for the 4.2 are very pricey besides piggies.

that one though, looks like its going to be a big moneypit.

130k miles is a fuckload, and if it hasn't had the timing chain service done, that'll be 5k off your pocket to get it fixed + everything else going wrong.

I own a b6 S4 and i'm terrified of it, and my car only has 50k.

The only thing I'm really aware of for these cars besides the piggies you mentioned and a 10hp NA tune is the $15k supercharger kit. You won't be knocking more than a half second at most of your 1/4 times on these without a 5-figure investment as far as I know.

Actually, you can mod it without hitting 5 digits quickly

i've seen people claim upto 40hp gains from piggies+JHM tune in audizine.


JHM's supercharger kit is ~8k, and they have a car that does the 1/4 mile in late 11's, stock runs around 14, they also have a lot of other things like LSD's etc.

I didn't realize the SC kit was that cheap. Still though for the money an A4 with a big turbo will win every time. The RS cars are still something special though in their own right.

And if you're the guy I replied to your S4 is sweet. I spend a few months last year diligently looking for a low mileage one in just that color and couldn't find any so I settled on a A4 myself. Don't regret the decision but I still get a half chub every time I see a B6 S4 on the road.

haha, thanks. I love the color too, since it's cream inside and silver outside i can leave it out in the sun and not melt inside when i come back. It's a bit front heavy due to the v8, but it doesn't worry me too much.

Certainly doesn't look good as nogaro though.

and you're right, its certainly easier and cheaper to mod an A4 and get big power out of them, but you know your a4 will never make delicious v8 sounds, or that timing chain whine.

If i were op i'd get a B5 S4 and mod the fuck out of it.

Agree completely, but the mpgs, turbo sounds and mid 12 second time slips do tend to make up for the lack of V8 rumble.

Would trade it in in an instant if I had the money to supercharge a 4.2 though.
