What's the proper technique to grip your knob?

Palm to the side?
Palm on top?
From the base?
Fingers on the head of the knob?

Not interested in personal preference, moreso proper driving technique.

As a truck driver, I can tell you that you get the smoothest shifts when you shift palm on top
>>
this thread is gay as fuck, delet this
>>
>>14153609

I didn't consider the fact that trucks user have longer shifters than cars.

I should have differentiated between the two.
>>
>>14153595

Stroke the shaft while you gently caress the balls.
>>
Whatever you do, don't grip it with your palm on the front side of the knob like you're some retarded dolphin.
>>
>>14153595
I elbow shift
>>
>>14153611
Second this.

>best shifting
What ever is comfy, nerd...

Really though you're not going to improve shift times by moving your hand, get a short throw.
>>
>>14153611

Why? Does it make you uncomfortable?

This is the auto board, right?
>>
Sit on it and move your hips to move the shaft you should have enough practice moving shafts with your anus.

You sound like an insecure closet homo
>>

sorry not everyone is as open about being a faggot as you are
>>
>>14153595
There isn't one. Just do what is comfortable for you. It's not like you're going to see 3 second faster shifts with one technique vs another.
>>

[fragile masculinity intensifies]
>>
palm on top
>>
Gently with the finger tips

Anything else is for gay homos with no style nor no head
>>
>No one said with your mouth yet
It's really situational to what gear. For some reason it always goes into first easier with my palm on side than on top, but for any down shifting it's usually palm on top or I just use my asshole.
>>
I hold the shifter a slightly different way for each gear. Palm on the back right to push it over and up into first. Straight on the front to pull back into second. Palm the knob to push it into third, slide it back into fourth. Hold the back left to push into fifth. Hold it on the left side to pull it back into 6th. Helps prevent money shifts lol.
>>
>>14153595
It's personal preference. Even pros have different hand positions. Sorry for taking the bait.
>>
>>14154377
>It's personal preference.

No.

There is a right and wrong answer. It's not subjective.
>>
Palm on top makes the most sense to me. You can apply force equally in every direction.
>>
>>14154238
Same here.
>>
>>14154381

What is the answer then?
>>
>>14154381
If you want to get subjective about it, find the fastest driver in the world and watch how he shifts. Here's Senna thrashing an NSX around Suzuka, ape his technique as hard as you can.

>>
>>14154381
Yes it is lol
>>
Don't know if it's the "right" or proper way to do it or not but if the shift involves pushing (1st, 3rd, 5th) I'll put my palm between the top and back and push it with all 5 of my fingers spread out, and if I'm pulling (2nd, 4th, R) I'll put my palm on the top but with my fingers around the stick and pull back. If I have to move the stick to the left (downshift or start out of neutral) I'll push it to the side with my palm on the right side but with my fingers out and if it's to the right I'll just grab it as if I were pulling it like I described earlier but just push it to the right instead of down.

It's the way I learned how to drive stick so it's the way I've always done it.
>>
>>14153609
This is the proper way to shit and the fastest
>>
Like OP pic except with thump over top and more like grabbing a dick, or one of these straight shift knobs.
