/o/ theres a $750 bmw 530i that runs and drives near me that I was thinking about getting for fucking around with. It has 240k miles. Should I go for it or no?

I dont have any place to put it though besides the street because I live with my parents, and they dont want another car in the garage or driveway.

dunno about US pricing but 750$ seems really cheap? Is it a manual? Unless it has rusted to hell and the engines head gasket is fine go for it anon
>>
>>14151611
is that the actual car?
>>
>>14151611
now I don't know jack shit but won't that die in like a few months? It's a 530i, I'm guessing it had a pretty hard life
>>
>>14151611
you will have to trash it if anything breaks senpai
>>
>>14151766
with 200k+ miles that seems about right

>>14151805
of course not

>>14151838
how so, think its that close to falling apart?
>>
>>14151958
the repairs are gonna cost more than 750 if anything moderately serious happens

Those I-6 engines are nice. If it hasn't been overheated and the block is totally fucked, then the engine shouldn't be an issue. Especially if you are capable of doing a headgasket. The M/T is decent in those cars too, but not sure about the automatics.

For $750, I'm sure the interior and electronics suck. Depends how clean the body is. If the body panels are nice and it drives straight, I would grab it.

If something major goes, you can always part it out. Sell a few doors and bumpers and scrap the rest for $250 when it dies. Assuming your parents will allow that at their house.

Either way, if you can get 10k miles out of a $750 car, why not? The most you will ever lose out on is like $400 since you can always scrap em for a few bucks.

Just checked the wiki on an e34, I'm assuming its an e34 cos of the pic you posted, and I'm assuming you're in the US cos of the use of miles and $, so going off that you'd be getting the v8 model as the 3.0l straight 6 never came out in the us, unless its imported, no, stay away from old bmw v8's, I don't know a whole lot about the v8s, but it's a really early bmw v8, stick with an old straight 6 and it should be fine, I mean that is if you want to keep it as a reliable daily, I dunno, just my 2c .

530 has a 3 liter v8

If it's.made it this far any of the nukisal issues or other problems have come and gone. It will probably last a while and is a nice little engine.

Anecdotal but I remember a cash for clunkers YouTube of a 530. The engine went for 10 mins with its oil drained and replaced with silicate fluid.

e34 was the best bmw that bmw ever built

No.

e39s have shit build quality but high quality materials except for the leather
>>
>>14152291
>e39s have shit build quality

I have both an E34 and an E39. Neither has anything over the other.
>>
>>14152296
e34 has reliability and durability over the e39
>>
e34 also handles better, feels more raw and sporty
>>
>>14152207
>tfw was about to call you out but realized you were right
>>
>>14152307
e34 are land barges. Handling is one of the thing they can't do
>>
>>14152278
Nah, it's like an E28, but with another 250kg of heft.
