And the tires and engine were quite clearly picked as platforms for owners to build off of, not benchracing, which is most definitely THE numbers game which you are now backpedaling as costs. You can do what you want with F/I or whatever for the engine, and they give you a nice set of daily driver tires but leave the performance wheels and tires to you. For example the AE86 has soul because it had its own popular racing series that doridori started his career on, and it was used extensively as a tuner/street racing car by young guys with a passion for cars during an era of car culture romance, the japanese 90s. This history gives you feelings about the car that go beyond its parts. That is its soul.
