>>
>>14140341
dont have any tools desu
>>
>>14140344
Spend $200 for a jack + stands, basic socket set and a breaker bar.

Or, go to a different shop.
>>
>>14140312
>why is it so expensive?

Because they wanted you to go away without actually telling you No. Quite common in the service industry that if they don't want to do a job then they bid it really high so that the prospective customer goes somewhere else without the hard feelings associated with being outright refused.

everyone always charges more money to change fluids other than coolant, and engine oil.

I asked Jiffy Lube to change my diff fluid cause I didnt wanan fuck with some long ass funnel to get to the fill bolt, they wanted $170. This was like 7 years ago. fuck those jews.

Change it yourself.

PRO TIP: Make sure to loosen the fill bolt before draining the oil. Last thing you want is your oil drained, and a stripped fill bolt. completely fucked.
>>
>>14140379

This

The trans oil probably costs $50 or so. They're gonna get you on labor everytime

>>14140344

Kobalt has a 154 piece tool set with a hard case on sale at Lowes for $70. Look up some specific tools you may need for your car, the trans oil won't cost much, and get some rhino ramps rated for 12,000 lbs for $40.
>>
>>14140420
>The trans oil probably costs $50 or so. They're gonna get you on labor everytime
Honda manuals take regular 10W30 motor oil.

>>14140312
Manual or auto OP? Valvoline will do a gearbox drain and fill for like $40.
>>
>>14140312
Do you expect professionals to work for free?

It's a simple formula of labor x hrs + parts and supplies

Transmission fluid certainly isn't cheap and most shops charge about $100/hr labor.

That labor cost must provide enough funds to pay the tech, electricity bill, lease cost, insurance cost, etc.
>>
>>14140430

How much, like 2-4 quarts?

So less than $50
>>
>>14140348
>breaker bar instead of torque wrench
Nice try trying to fool someone into thinking you know what ur talking about.
>>
>>14140494
Don't forget about the gasket, filter and any other necessary seals
>>
>>14140531
>torque wrench
Why you do this? why you gotta lie?
>>
>>14140344
Park it diagonally on a ditch so you can get underneath it. Buy a $6 pump and an adjustable wrench for $4

>buy a cheap pump that will break half-way
>buy a adjustable wrench that will strip your bolts
>>
>>14140653
It was to prove a point that he doesn't need to spend a lot of money on tools to do this. Also there are some really good cheap, simple pumps.
>>
>>14140673
Yes he could do it like that, or he could do it right.
>>
>>14140494
You can buy a 5qt jug of oil at Wally World for less than $20.

>>14140559
We were under the assumption of manual at this point, which is just a drain and fill job. Maybe a new washer on the drain plug since the oil plugs require them on Hondas.

>>14140648
Basically all they do is unhook your trans cooler line and have the trans suck in new fluid as it pushes the old shit out.

Basically you just need trans fluid, two buckets, some rubber hose and hose clamps to do this yourself.
>>
>>14140729
>thinking it matters so much that you have to buy specialty tools
Okay, guy
>>
>>14140771
>specialty tools
Thinking it's a 15 year old car, Means an adjustable wrench is just going to cause you huge amounts of trouble.

Just get a damn breaker bar with the right size socket.

Twice the cost of the adjustable wrench but 100 times less work and pain.

>>
>>14140430
Ive never seen it mentioned to use 10w30 oil in your transmission. This sounds like bullahit. Id accept 75w90 synthetic or something like a normal gear oil. But i doubt its 10w30.

>mfw I hear all these things about how changing your tranny fluid will ruin your car
Where did this come from /o/, it makes no sense. Is it just because people are stupid and don't get it done so by the time they do the tranny is already fried?
>>
>>14140796
Wrenches, small ratchet with long extensions, 4 screwdrivers 2 types with 2 sizes, wheel wrench with pry bar, bottle jack, zip ties, extra tubing/hoses for older cars, hose clamps. Extra of anything that likes to go out on your car (on my 79 f150 the ignition box would go out from time to time)
>>
>>14140312
>mfw i almost blew my trans for the 2nd time
>cost $500 to do a oilchange and fix the air-air cooler
At least they did a really nice job but still
>>
>>14140531
You don't need a torque wrench to do any job, but if any bolts are being difficult, you will need a breaker bar
>>
>>14141131
Head gasket.
>>
>>14141149
I never said you don't need a torque wrench to do any job right, just you don't need one to do any job

10mm socket
Few quarts of ATF
Filter

Dude it's easy
>>
>>14140312
I would have done a 360 and walked away.
You got took, you retarded reggie.
Precision Tune quoted me $200 for the fluid change in my Manuel ford ranger.
I literally called the guy a thieving faggot, drove down the road to Valvoline and paid $40.
>>
>>14140312
Do it yourself, pussy.
>>
>>14140531
You need both desu senpai.
>>
>>14140871
That's because you're a fucking noob. Lots of transaxles use motor oil. Lots of them use auto trans fluid too.
>>
>>14140312

Manuel, or auto?

I`ve thought about changing the tranny oil in my manual, but it seems like too much of a hassle. There`s no drain plug so I have to pump it out, or get it out somehow without spilling all that shit on myself. Its gone 400k (kms) without any problems, so I doubt it matters much changing it now.
>>
>>14141363
kek i do this with my dildo shifter when i'm giving someone a ride

>wants service
>can't afford service
>DIY nigger
>doesn't have the means to do it

15 year old pile that's probably never had it's trans serviced before and likely developing problems if it actually is attempted aside - I guess you should probably just kill yourself, unless you're too apathetic for that too.
