So /o/,
Aussie here, I currently drive a 2002 Honda Integra Type R. I've had this thing for about 3 years. I've put some work into the car over this time such as a closed door respray as it faded to pink and some basic I/H/E bolt ons and coilovers + wheels to. I find this car just isn't good to drive every day now, it's still a fun car to drive despite only being a four cylinder NA but my god, the car makes noises and things rattle, the suspension is firm and the aircon doesn't seem to do anything when the outside temperature goes above 30c. I've been looking at other hot hatches like Focus XR5's and the new Fiesta ST's, I think I'd want something with a turbo, but it would also be cool if I could get a good, comfortable, practical and fun to drive daily in rear wheel drive or sedan form as well... What ideas can you pitch?

Commodore? Check out daily ausfag thread as well for a good chart.

Forgot to mention, trying to keep the price limited to no higher than the low 20k mark
Clio 197/200 is god tier. I bought one over an FN2.
Buy the older one with the 2.0 NA engine. Polo GTI, Pug 208 GTI are both pre good as well.
xr6 turbo
10 second memecar with 8k worth of bolt ons
The Fiesta ST is a blast. I drove one for about 8 months, it had loads of usable power on the street, for merging and passing. Handled beautifully, turned hard as hell, and still got 30-31 mpg out of every tank with a heavy foot. But, it is a very firm ride, forget braving potholes, and the exhaust note just isn't very inspiring, it's bland, get an intake like Injens and it sounds like it's got a bov though.
I just moved back into a Celica, and if you've ever driven one, theres zero Rev hang, at least in comparison to the Fiesta where it's like waiting for a feather to fall to the ground. But that's in regards to daily commute and not spirited driving.
Brand new or used? You could pick up a pretty nice Chaser which would fit your bill for turbo 4 door, comfy yet quick. Can make them handle decent for a sedan if you want to sacrifice a bit of comfort. 1jz's are super strong aswell.

Don't get a fiesta St it's a down grade all around especially performance. Why don't you just get a different jappo car

>suspension is firm
You bought an ITR you should have expected that
I went from ITR -> Evo 5 and the Evo was slightly more bearable
