What's the best floor jack for around $100?
Is this Harbor Freight racing jack any good?
most brands are made in the same chinese factory
lincoln, Torin, HF, etc all same shit
>>14110735
Get the steel ones, unless weight is really a huge factor.
>>14110922
Yeah get a steel 5+ ton
Those smaller racing jacks are meant emergencies only
>>14110932
I think theyre fine if youre just going to be lifting the car and throwing a jackstand under it.
Only retards would use it as support while theyre under it
>>14110979
The 2tons maybe good for an oil change, or to change a tire, but if you plan on doing serious work or if you own a truck, you'll need it jacked up higher.
And yes ALWAYS use jack stands.
>>14110992
>he can't get under his car without jacking it up
stancefags pls go
>>14111215
I can get under my truck without jacking it, but I jack it up for elbow room.
DO NOT buy the aluminum one.
They fall apart and bend.
I've had the low profile HF steel one for 5 years now. Hasn't broken.
>>14110735
it's just a jack.
not a rocket ship.
Where do you niggas buy your jacks and stands from?
I want to buy a decent jack, maybe like a 3 ton, but everywhere I looked at initially like VatoZone just seems to have shitty store brand ones.
I don't need it right this minute, so I was thinking I wait for a sale and maybe spend $200? Does Sears sell decent ones? Or Lowes?
So basically, wut brands are gud and where to buy them?
>>14112078
northern tool
Just bought a steel low profile 3 ton jack from Harbor Freight for %99. I like it. Apparently it's dropping even lower to $85 from December 31 - January 3rd.
>>14112094
Thanks bruh. There is one fairly close
What about pic related?
>#2 seller
>>14110735
I have the 3 ton steel low profile jack and the 2 ton crossbar. It lifts the car up quickly and the handle is padded which is a bonus. Have had 0 issues with it in 2 years of abuse, would buy again. That is not a general thing with HF though, their sockets dont hold up to real abuse so I use a combination of Snap On, S&K, Cornwell, and Craftsman.
Pic related, sitting on some HF 3 ton jack stands as well.
>>14112118
those are heavy as fuck and sturdy
if thats what you want go for it
>>14112167
I don't mind if it's heavy, it will just be in my garage.
After seeing the praise of the HF steel jack for ~$100, maybe I will just cheap out. I'd like to keep an eye on those Northern Tool prices tho and see if one comes on sale for the low. I also need decent stands so that will add a few $$.
I have the one I your OP pic. I drive a fucking EG hatch though so it's more than enough. I've been using their little red trolley jack until now for everything.
>>14112190
every time i see a red eg hatch i instantly think of shingo
>>14112078
I have a Kobalt one i got from Sears like 4 years ago.
Does the job, nothing fancy.
Think it was less than 200, spent the rest of the money after that on jackstands, wheel chocks, and ramps.
>>14110735
I have one of the harbor freight 5 Tom steel jacks it's a pos but it gets the job done. With no load it takes a full crank to move an inch and to lower the car you can't drop it slowly it's either drop the car or nothing but it works
>>14112193
That's expected. I have the wheels he had too.
>>14111215
What card do you own? Most sportscars need to be jacked up.
>>14112205
>to lower the car you can't drop it slowly it's either drop the car or nothing
To solve that, drill a hole half a foot below the top of the handle, put a thick rod through and weld it in place. The "t" shape gives you better drop control. I did that to my jack this past summer and glad I did.
>>14111215
I'd like to see you drop a transmission or rear end without jacking your shit up.
>>14112205
Harbor freight wageslave fag here
We don't sell a 5ton jack . Just 4,8,12,and 20 ton bottle jacks, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 ton floor jacks in aluminum, or 2, 3, 4, 22 ton in steel. Avoid the 1.5-2.5 ton aluminum, 3 ton trolley jack and 22 ton steel jacks like the plague. Get a regular 3 ton steel and call it a day . It's going to be 70 bucks in 2 weeks.
>>14112928
sheeit. I'm there. Thanks mate.
What's the best floor jack for under $1000?
>>14112928
>Get a regular 3 ton steel and call it a day . It's going to be 70 bucks in 2 weeks.
You're going to burn in hell if you're trolling
>>14112928
>avoid the 1.5 aluminum and 3 ton trolley
I own both of those. Can't say anything about the aluminum right now because it hasn't even been used yet but the trolley jack has been good to me for over a year. Then again my car is only one ton roughly so it doesn't exactly get pushed hard.
>>14113096
They're supposed to be having a huge three day sale in January. I'm gonna pick up their electric impact for like $35.
>>14112078
Harbor freight. Got my 3ton for about $100 with the %20 off coupons you get for signing up for their emails
>>14110735
walmart sells 1.5ton ones for like $30 i just want to do my own oil changes. would that be good enough? paired with some jack stands of course. i drive a 2001 sentra btw
>>14113096
It's currently 90$ until red tag sale ends on the 28th where it will shoot back to the "sale price" of 105$ so when the January parking lot sale hits they can drop it down to 70 bux for the weekend. Source I'm the under paid pricing coordinator
>>14113178
thanks bruh
>>14113162
Just get ramps for oil changes
>>14110735
Mine is fine I've had it for 2 years but I also use it for miats
>>14111215
Lol I need wood to jack my baby up, now that's low and you can be mad at a real stance fag all you want
