Whenever someone begs me for something I often look for the most valuable item on that person and make an offer for it for a ridiculous price.

Usually they are wearing better clothing than I do so I would offer $10 on a pair of $150 shoes or $2 on a $30 shirt and when they tell me no i first start to explain to them how $5 can get you enough rice for a couple of days. When they start to walk away I question "I thought you were starving, are you going to eat your fucking shirt?" Loud enough for the current crowd to hear so they wait for a fresh crowd to come.

Or for the rough threadbare bums, I just plainly ask "do I look like I came hear to be begged?" that often cuts them right but if not I just tell them to haul their ass.

Luckily not everyone is a piece of shit and a guy stopped, gave me a lift to a gas station thinking they'd have a gas can to buy and get gas. First gas station didn't sell them, neither did the 2nd one. He took me to his house down the road, picked up a spare gas can from his garage and took me back to get gas, and then back to the truck.

All he asked for in return was to help someone else in need because that's what a good person would do.

I tried to give him some money but he wouldn't take any. That kind of shit is why if I can help someone I will.

Happened to me once when I stopped to fill up after work. I was in the city and some guy was going on about how he needed a few bucks for gas and his kid was dying or some shit. I just told him I spent the last of my money filling my tank and didn't have anything, which was probably true cause I'm poor as shit, and he left me alone.

Also at the same gas station some guy pulled up to me and said he had a set of rims that would look great on my car and offered to sell me them. It's funny because my car is a '98 shitbox. Naturally I turned him down too. You just get used to this kind of stuff if you live and or work in a relatively urban area though it is still pretty rare to see shit like this.

Still go to that gas station because the prices are the some of the cheapest in New Haven county, only beaten by Bristol who are already under $2.00 in some places.
