What's the appeal of high revving engines, i.e 8000 and above?
From what I understand, you have to stress the engine higher to get power so in high revving cars, they will feel like shit on regular roads. And when you say, "the point is to track them" , then why make road cars like that?
>>
because it is
>>
>>14098349
You build the engine to withstand higher rpms.

You remember that feeling when you had too much sugar as a child? It's alot like that.
>>
>>14098356
Why though... It seems there's no benefit besides increased noise (road car)
You lose efficiency, it feels bad on normal roads, torque curve is bad, power comes in later than sooner
>>
>>14098367
I can't tell if you're young or just stupid.

Which is bigger? 4cyl 2.0L engine or a 8cyl 2.0L engine
Which would you expect to weigh more?
Which is going to get better gas mileage puttering around town?
Assuming the engines are analogous, obviously.

As for track driving. A high revving engine has insane amounts of feedback on minimal throttle inputs. When driving at the limit is makes shifting weight to the wheels you want it at very easy.

okay, stop thinking every engine that revs high are gutless na 4cyls like the toyobaru engines
and stop thinking every engine that doesnt rev high is a big v8

The feeling man, the feeling. We aren't robots and our driving experiences reflect that. For a lot of motorists winding the donk out to nine thou feels awesome every gear you grab.
>>
>>14098349
Just think about the fastest race cars, say the 2002 F1 cars with the V10 that revved to nearly 19,000rpm. Those cars were possibly the fastest race cars we've ever seen (not just from the engine admittedly), so if we assume that there is a trickle down of the technology to road cars, we can see that an engine built to withstand high revs can make for a very fast performance car.

>From what I understand, you have to stress the engine higher to get power so in high revving cars, they will feel like shit on regular roads

But they don't have to. My Suzuki SV1000 revs to 11,000 and cruises effortlessly thanks to the smooth power delivery of a V-Twin.

what's the appeal of high test? i.e not being OP in high school?
>>
>>14098349
You get the power in the higher revs which is where you'll be anyway when hooning. theyre engines for enthusiasts, not normies.

But the z06 hits 60 in 3 and redlines at 6500. How is not better to feel power at every gear?
You get the same amount of power instantaneously and remove the need for 2-3000 rpm
>>
>>14099225
But you only get the power in higher revs with cars that need higher revs to make power.

the z06 is fucking shit faggot
>>
>>14098349
it's just personal preference.
same reason you (i'm guessing) like low revving engines
>>
>>14102881
> he doesn't understand gearing
lol fuck off cuck
>>
>>14098367
OK then faggot, why don't you just swap your engine for the diesel engine from a boat then?
It's hardly stressed since it only revs to 500rpm and it makes plenty of power.
>>
>>14102881
Read up on torque curves, gearing, and Newton's laws of motion before you start making such idiotic statements.
