As much as someone is willing to pay for it. Sorry but it's difficult to pin a specific price on stuff that has a niche market. All I can say is think of a price you'd be happy with, post it for sale a little higher than that and see what happens. There are car clubs, forums, Hagerty that you can ask for a rough estimate on value.

Best I can do, it is an old car and if something breaks it would be a good 4,000 to fix it. Good luck finding someone to pay the vintage tax on a Volkswagen model that isn't the Bus, Beetle, or Karmin. I mean I am a fanboy so I like the car but I could never do more than 2,500 for something that is older than my dad and not widely known.

Most Type 3s aren't in that good of condition, and still list for $4k on the Samba. That's easily a $7k+ car in the right market.

I mean, 3,000 - 4,000 is within reason for that specific car judging from the two pictures. While both my offers are low I can tell you with confidence the car is worth 5,000 maybe even 6,000. However, you need to be aware it isn't a Beetle. If it were a Beetle in that condition with all those original parts you would be looking at 8,500 - 10,000 easy. My repair bill comes from the fact as an older automobile other parts of it could go haywire and that could just be a total pain in the ass. With older Volkswagens you are right the engine is impeccable in design and can work with literal trash as replacement parts that is why they are such nice little cars. But in Michigan and Northern Indiana if you look to sell there you aren't going to be able to get more than 6,000 maybe, maybe 6,500. There just isn't as much demand for type 3s.
