It's basically a Lotus Elise. Same engine and transaxle at that point, and the same suspension geometry. Then it's just a matter of buying cast off Elise parts as you find them for cheap.

You can swap in an engine used in an elise pretty easily (and it was probably designed for it), and the suspension may have been designed with help from lotus, but the vehicles are not at all the same.

fantastic driving car, flat 6 burble behind you, revs to 7.5k rpm and the power always feels like it's on tap even if you're in 4th at 2k rpm, crap tons of grip, firm (very heavy feeling) steering, long throw of the shifter, ignition on the left side for traditions sake

saying it's a poor mans 996 really is a compliment to this car
