Took a promotion and paid off the last of my debt, so I am buying a V8 Chevy, question is: >Roadster, Coupe or Sedan?

>>2017 Chevy SS
>Most likely one of last year's if not last
>Future cult classic like the Pontiac G8
> 400+ HP LS3 w/ 6-speed, 4-doors, and room for 5.
>Sleeper status, comfy AF, near luxury

>>2017 Chevy Camaro
>Waiting until 2nd model year for kinks to be worked out
> 450HP LT1 w/ 6-speed or 8-speed paddles, backseat and big boot
>Runs mid-10s with 150shot w/ DRs, high-11s all stock w/ DRs

>>2017 Chevy Corvette
>Hopefully the 4th year model will get a refresh
> 450HP LT1 w/ 7-speed or 8-speed paddles
>Muh racecar, exotic look

I will probly put enough down to cover the immediate value-drop from leaving the lot, finance the rest. What does /o/ think?

Pic related, the 6th gen is as fast as the Z28, ZL1, C6, or C5Z with tires, faster than a C6Z or ZR1 with NOS.

LT1 Vettes like to explode and the Corvette engineers aren't very good with the idea of keeping it cool

Camaro's are yet to be seen, give it some time to see how the LT1's hold up in those cars

The LS3 powerplant is rock solid, an LS3 owner myself, and many others abuse the shit out of that engine with zero problems. I'd narrow it down to the Chevy G8 or the Alpha Camaro. The new G8 is such a nice car to sit in, I haven't gotten the chance to sit in a new Alpha Camaro yet.

Doesn't one of those have 50HP more than the other? Kind of a small performance gap. Also, the cars I'm looking at are 15-40k less than a 350R or Z28
>>
>>14058945

Nah the LS7 actually makes a tad more power at the wheels

Zeta is just an old and tired platform. GM got a lot of use out of it, but the Z/28 was like the final show piece of what the Zeta was fully capable of. The Alpha platform is so far better in every measurable way, thanks to Cadillac being exceptionally good in the last 10 years or so
>>
>>14058934
The massive, and soon to be massively discounted, LS aftermarket is a big draw for the Chevy SS. That and and the special snowflake status. I'd love to debadge one and lower it.

I've seen one in red, and it's actually a damn nice looking car desu.

LS3 is solid though, perhaps consider a SS 1LE is you're interested in the LS platform
>>
>>14058945
Don't respond to the shitposter. That's last gen vs current gen too, future z28 is going to rape the GT350R.

Meh I have an LS1 fbod and an LS6 CTS-V, I want that new-new. Not the outgoing last-hurrah model. Plus the refresh is fucked.
>>
>>14058993

2013 was the first year of the 1LE

I don't care for the refresh that much but the Z/28 is sick. Still, the Chevy G8 is gonna give you all kinds of comfy feels and all that LS goodness

Right but the Zeta platform is just old AF, and I just generally don't like the 5th gen styling.

I think if I'm being honest with myself, I'd buy a C5Z instead of a C7 to complete my trio of Sedan Coupe Roadster I already have going with my other 2 LS...

If I get a 6th gen it means getting to retire my LS1 Catfish to the track/strip for maximum mods and racecar.

But if I get the Chevy SS it would probably mean trading in my low-mile clean CTS-V (which I don't want to let go).

But then I'd probly still scrap enough together to buy a C5Z to DD and retire the Catfish anyways in the sedan-for-sedan swap scenario.
>>
>>14058893
the pontiac g8 and SS are completely different to me
the SS looks like a normal car on the road now and the g8 has a much sportier look to it
just my opinion

None of the above. ATS-V or 2nd Gen CTS-V

If the down payment covers the initial value drop from me driving it off the lot, that's the only real "purchase". The rest is financed and recouped when the vehicle is sold. I won't be driving this 50 years from now, I'll buy the refresh in 2020.

I take it you've got about a 55K budget. Why not go look at a 2nd gen CTS-V?

Why the fuck would you waste your money on a current gen meme "muscle" car

At least drop your well earned money on a Muscle car that actually looks good AKA anything pre 1990

Muscle cars have not been a thing since the 70's.
>>
Does anyone know if GM will move the Commodore to the Alpha platform as well? And if so, would that make front fascia swaps possible (like, a Camaro front end on a Holden ute)?

>>14059141
I highly doubt they'll make an ATS with a V8. It would compete too much with the CTS, since they share a platform, and they're pretty similar already. They might as well upsell you on a CTS-V.

>>14059211
I actually think the LT (V6) Camaro looks better then the SS (V8). Too bad they won't offer an LT with a V8.

>>14061826
Then either those warranty targets are way too restrictive and unrealistic, or the engine management sucks.

>>14061832
>Muscle car that actually looks good AKA anything pre 1973
FTFY

>Then either those warranty targets are way too restrictive and unrealistic
It's a 650HP car with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
>>
>>14061868
Yes the heavier Hellcats manage just fine with 707hp and a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

The SS is going to be worth the most later. Go with it.
>>
>>14061925
They don't have a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. They have 60,000 mile warranty. Even if they did have a 100,000 mile warranty it could just mean Dodge is happier with a higher number of in-warranty failures.

I must be reading this wrong then.
Sure, ODdge might be happier with a higher number of in-warranty failures, but somehow, despite the Hellcats pulling masses of media attention, you don't hear anything about them breaking down, whereas the horror stories about the LT4 are pretty easy to find. I highly doubt Dodge's Hellcats have a higher failure rate than Chevy's LT4. to be honest.

What minute cosmetic difference would make you like the LT more? The lack of hood louvers? Fucking autist.
