Why the hell are Krawlers so expensive? What advantage domthey have over the KM2 other than a more coarse tread? My Jeep has Krawlers all the way around, but my spool chews them up. So, I can spend $1000 on two Krawlers or spend $1000 on a new set of tires including a spare.

It's worth saying, I've never gotten stuck with the Krawlers.

I want to buy an XJ for my next car. What should I know about them?

Good drivetrains, you may or may not have some electrical demons. Watch for rust. Watch engine temp when you test drive- all 3 of my XJs have run hot, all 3 needed new thermostats. I'll post more as I think of it. Oh and keep up with suspension maintenance to prevent that death wobble.

Because its a competition-level tire marketed for buggies that do extreme shit off road. Plenty of cheaper alternatives available. KM2, MTR, or a Toyo MT would probably perform just as well for your application.

Unless you are doing competition level stuff it is pretty pants on head retarded to have one. Change the spool out for a locker or a torque biasing diff. I think Detroit actually makes one that is both.

Also deflate your tires some. From that pic they are clearly over inflated by a lot.

For a daily they are fine.

If you are trying to make a wheeler, the Dana 30 that comes stock with the XJ is shit. They flex to much, and yea you can shove 33's on the Dana 30 and be fine but if you want to put a locker in with 33's you will break the axle almost guaranteed.

It really depends on what you want to do if you are making a wheeler.

If you are running up to 35's usually a Dana 44 will do just fine. 40's is a whole other ball park and I have honestly never gone past 35's.

Also, if you are going to put a lift and tires on your vehicle. Do the right thing and save money for a differential re-gear. Your vehicle will drive like complete garbage if you do not.

Why would it be stock. You're going to have to do gears anyway, and might as well do shafts while you have it apart. But even stock it would handle 35's driven the right way.

I wheeled 35s on a D35 with a locker, moly shafts, and gears for like 3 years before I could afford to upgrade. You just have to drive with the knowledge that your axle is weak. Which saves you from doing stupid shit anyway. I've only twisted one shaft and 1 or 2 gears on the pinion are chipped probably.

I wouldn't worry about a D44 at all, but I also don't drive like a retarded hillbilly.
