This car defies logic.
>barely over 100k
>has interior comforts like A/C, navigation, and radio
>dinosaur pushrod that only makes 77 hp/L
>no active aero, no magride, no flappy paddles, no high tech gimmicks
>faster than engineering marvels that cost ten times as much
>13 track records worldwide
How is this physically possible? And more importantly, why is it selling so poorly that it'll be cancelled next year?
>>14037998
because this car is hand made by niggers in Detroit which is the equivalent of German jet fighters being made by Jews in a labor camp.
>>14037998
>And more importantly, why is it selling so poorly that it'll be cancelled next year?
Because people who could afford them don't want them and people who want them can't afford them.
Also, it's because while the aero isn't active and the suspension isn't magride, the aero is still horrifyingly effective at providing useful downforce and the suspension is fully adjustable from the factory and extremely well designed.
>>14037998
Its practically a race car.
>>14037998
Because Fiat is boiling them down into pasta.
>>14038036
And the McLaren P1 isn't? That thing doesn't even have air conditioning!

"MOM LOOK I POSTED IT AGAIN!"
>>14038027
This. Anyone with a 100 grand to burn isn't going to use it to buy a Dodge.
>>14037998
The ultimate irony for me is that they set 13 track records (only like 4 of which anyone's ever heard of, but whatever) and yet the boomers seem unmoved from their fat Corvettes. Somehow in these rivalries the better car always ends up dying.
Corvette > Snek
STi > Evo
Miata > MR2
The only thing we can all take solace in is that this thing is pretty much a 100% guaranteed take it to the bank instant classic. Someday one of these will drive down the street and kids jaws will drop and they'll ask their parents if they remember when cars still looked and sounded like that.
>>14037998
>hp/L
>not hp/lbs or hp/kg
Power-to-weight
>>14037998
sux, cuz its literally the only dodge i would ever buy
>>14037998
Good aero + wide as fuck, sticky tyres.
In rain Viper would be way slower than 918, P1 and LaFerrari.
Educate me on the 1st Gen Vipers guys
>>14038162
They're fucking brutal, unrefined cars. The hardtop is an afterthought.
That said, they're cool as hell, but only as maybe a second or third car.
>>14038174
They're perhaps best thought of as the American equivalent to late 90s--early '00s TVR cars. They will probably murder you, but you'll die with a huge smile on your face.
>>14038162
Pretty different than the ones that followed as far as chassis refinement goes, as each generation went on the focus turned more towards handling. I've driven an early 1st gen, earlier 2nd gen ACR, and a later 2nd gen convertible, haven't even sat in the current gen but it looks too fancy for me for the non track focused models. If I was buying one I would look at early second gens
>>14038027
>Because people who could afford them don't want them and people who want them can't afford them.
This.
If they added flappy gearbox bet they'd have more customers. That's cuts a lot of people out right there.
>>14037998
It's not selling well because people can't deal. Makes me sad. I love the viper.
>>14038162
It's like driving a skateboard with a huge engine on it. My dad had a blue and white one, was a cool ride.
>>14038027
So I guess the Viper proves that the 0.1% have no interest in driving, they just want a fashion statement to flaunt their power. They'd buy a self-driving Bugatti if they could. How sad.
>>14038273
>the 0.1% have no interest in driving
Doubt it, the there are enthusiasts among them just like us. Also you spend alot of money on a car you wan't it to be comfyish/high quality/some what DD'able, there are lots of track cars out there like the viper that compte/beat the fastest supercars
The vette doesn't sell well in europe too becasue of it high price.
It's a shame I like the viper,
>>14038273
I know a bunch of rich people, I work with them. Always see the latest and greatest cars and such. American stuff isn't that popular with the ultra-wealthy that I'm around.
They are used to luxury and so when something like a Viper or Vette comes along it just feels too cheap. They want to spec out their Porsche with 8 billion personalization options or Ferarri with 25 grand in carbon that doesn't really make the car look any better. I've been listening to the guys deciding on their colors for 488s lately (expect lots of white ones), and what seats to put in it, if they get the black roof, if they do some stripe down the seat center on the competition seats, etc etc etc. They also compare delivery dates.
It's about the process as much as the car.
That said there are plenty of rich people that have full track cars and really get into it, but that's a smaller sliver just like with poor people tracking is a small sliver.
>>14037998
>This car defies logic.
>>barely over 100k
>>has interior comforts like A/C, navigation, and radio
Its also said that you can really feel the heat from the exhaust
>>14038174
>The hardtop is an afterthought
There is no hardtop for the first gen.
perhaps because people that want to spend 150k on a track car buy GT3 race cars
>>14038370
Just looked it up, you're right. They were softtop only, but the softtop was an afterthought as well.
>>14037998
The Hellcats killed it I think just because they were available in auto.
>>14038273
There are enthusiasts, but even if it's a proportional amount to the other people, there would only be 0.1% as many interested in the Viper
So when you're getting down to the top 100k people in the world, there's not much space to appeal to a niche within a niche.
>>14038426
>buy an all-american muscle car inspired by the classics and their heritage
>make it an autotragic
Why the fuck would you do this?
>>14038452
Because boomers.
But is it faster than a Honda Civic?
I mean, Corvettes barely beat it.
>>14038478
Wouldn't baby boomers buy the manual they grew up with?
>>14037998
>How is this physically possible?
SCIENCE
>why is it selling so poorly that it'll be cancelled next year?
because it actually takes skill to drive
>>14038452
Old people have the money, but not the left leg needed. Also the Viper is still a monster that can easily kill you even with driver aids.
>>14038482
no
>>14038486
Old people get arthritis in their knees.
>>14038496
Alright looks like thread is just going to devolve into shitposting, might as well say your last things and move on people.
>>14038058
Yes it does

who would have fucking guessed
>>14038496
Wow interesting
Is this the first viper you've seen or something? It's a road legal race car all there is to it
>>14038496
I do love unsourced images from the internet. No one would ever lie on the internet.
>>14039114

kek

civics type r are like 35k
>>14039187

You're beating a lot more than a type r.
Am i doing this shitposting right guys?
>>14038143
Corvette is cheaper than snek
STi is cheaper than Evo
Miata is cheaper than Middoshippu
People buy cheap shit.
>>14039539
>want a snek but can only afford cheap corvette
Being poor is suffering.
I can't even save up for a Viper if they really get cancelled.
>>14038024
Oh wow, I didn't realise I was on /pol/.
I'm gonna need a citation that African Americans produce inferior vehicles
>>14038486
Boomers are the reason why automatics dominate the american market.
None of them know or want to drive manual.
>hp/L meme
Sorry you get taxed to death for having a fun engine
I love the Snek, but I feel this board is a Snek circlejerk and I want to hear some other opinions. Does anyone on /o/ NOT like the Snek?
>>14040757
everyone loves the viper but we gotta shit post about something
>>14040466
Liberal please go
>>14040466
what you ask is impossible because they dont assemble cars, they disassemble them
because niggers steal shit
>>14040757
the thing is nobody really dislikes it

A-Anon it's time to stop posting...

>>14040802
here's your (you)
>>14038495
>Also the Viper is still a monster that can easily kill you even with driver aids
Perfect, pushing a car to its limits should come with a sense of fear.
>>14040757
It's just a balls-out crazy thing, possibly the last of its kind. Can't hate it, really.
>>14038106
Laguna Seca is one of the GOAT tracks, good benchmark circuit.
>tfw ill never have a viper acr to scare people with
>>14038452
Not sure what world you're from child but most "muscle cars" that were raced were all 3 speed automatics
fukkin nerd
>>14037998
Because boomers hate corners. And shifting apparently, which is weird because they grew up with that shit.
RIP snek, I always wanted you to be my coffin.
>>14037998
some cars give up a little performance so as to be easier to drive
and the viper has had time on the race track to be refined as a single model
the last edition is too aggy for me in terms of paint and grills
>>14040757
Why would anyone on /o/ hate the Snek? It's a car that's built to track and will punish anyone who isn't a very experience driver.
It's an autistic wetdream made reality.
>>14038027
Mind you, the viper is no easy car to drive fast either. People want to buy something that'll make them look like a hero rather than wrap them around a tree or throw them head first into some Armco.
I'm a massive Jap fanboy.
I'm from the UK.
I drive an FD3S as a daily driver.
I dislike most American cars.
And yet, I've always liked the Viper. It always seemed to be the most 'British' of the American sports cars, at least in my eyes.
Notice that we're in an American car thread on /o/ and nobody has said lolcantturn? That's respect right there.
I'm sad to hear of its passing...
I have a legacy which will match my forefathers.
For twenty-three years, I have been the underdog - a warrior outmatched in my arena by competitors with better armaments. I have been called unrefined and antiquated, but there has been no doubt that my victories were hard won and left my opponents broken behind me. There will be songs sung in my name, poetry written in my honor.
In these, my final days, I look back upon my ancestry. I look to those who first bore my surname and brought glory to our lineage. I take pride that I have descended from these great names - these mythical beings who shattered records and rewrote the limitations of our kind. I look at their legacies and find assurance in my own.
I am dying, though my strength is at its maxim. I have cut down Titans which were said to be outside of my reach and proven to the world how mighty a competitor, bred and perfected in the old ways, can be. I stand at the peak of my mountain, having spent a lifetime warring my way to the precipice.
Now I gaze down upon the world I will leave behind. There will be no final challenger. There will be no defeat to sully my championship.
There will be only silence within my arena when I have gone.
Yet, within that silence, there will remain the echoes of my war cry.
>you will never own that mighty Viper
why even live
>>14042667
capped, the feels are real
>>14038370
There's also no airbag. Or interior. Or door handles. Or anything covering the fire-spitting exhaust pipes that trail directly underneath the doors.
What would a used viper cost in good condition? Considering bringing one to yurop.
>>14045236
Dutchfag here, there's a few 3rd/4th gen verts in the country for about 50k eurobucks. Keep in mind cars are stupidly expensive here though.
>>14042667
This is so much better if you read this in clarkstons voice
>>14045337
I shed a tear when I got to the last line with his voice... then the image fade to black and you heart people clapping and cheering for no reason. Then comes a midget with the news.
>>14042595
Fuck off fruitcake.

i loled my ass off
>>14045704
At least there is zero chance of it overheating, right?
>>14039487
