Why do they call it a Miata rival? It would probably be much more expensive like the old one. It would be cool if they sold it for 25k ~, but I doubt it. What ever price it ends up being, I hope they focus on making it lighter. The old one wasn't heavy but it wasn't light, it was just average. A roadster needs to be light. I hope it still revs high too, even if it has turbos. I think the new Civic Type R engine revs to 7k, if they could get it up to 8k that would be awesome. A coupe version as well would be cool to this time around.

I don't think it will happen though. Probably another mid engined car like they have been talking about. If they try to ride on the S2000s success for a new car they will just fuck it up, or even make it different a all in some way like the NSX. If they call it something new it has no legacy to uphold.

Also there was a rumor that it's going to have a "type-r" version using the civics detuned engine.
since when does a fwd family hauler have an engine that needs to be detuned for a ground-up sportscar?
The best thing about the s2000 was it's engine, which was built completely from scratch specifically for the s2000 platform.

I have a strong feeling they're going to miss the mark here and mash a million different ideologies into it and come out with something that compromises everything with very little to show for it.

It looks like someone took a rendering of the S2000 and put the front of the NSX on it and modified some of the lines. I like the render, except the stupid NSX front end. Hondas whole current design language sucks right now. The S660 isn't too bad, if it has the S660 front that would be okay.

Can't stand the canted beltline on the 660, but the front end what look GOAT on the S2000 successor. Still, they're probably going to push for something more NSX-esque just to get that cheap halo car effect. That is, of course, implying the NSX ever actually makes it to production.

Too bad instead of Honda having one last n/a hurray they will just put a turbo on it. Turbos are cool but it would be nice to see Honda do n/a because they are so well known for it. Hopefully it will still rev to at least 8k even with turbos.

Fucking emission test are garenteed to make this thing turboed. But on the plus side if they do it right they could put a small turbo for some low end torque. I'm just sad the days of high Hp, high revving engines seem to be coming to an end. And only this car or maybe the new rx7 could possibly save us.

You're right. Even if they could get a bad ass n/a engine to pass emissions Honda wouldn't make it, they have jumped on the turbo bandwagon. I have no issue with turbos but high revving is Hondas niche. Maybe they will make it high revving and turbo. The S660 has fuel cut at 8k and is turbo, but the Civic Type R only goes to 7k. The NSX redlines at 7.5k, not sure about fuel cut.

Theres always Mazda for a new high revving engine. The Rx Vision tachometer went all the way to 8k, and is all but confirmed to be turbo.
