A buddy is thinking of selling me his 1987 nissan D21 for $500. It has around 300,000 miles and a bad alternator. Good buy?
(pic is not the truck)
you could probably scrap it for not much less than $500
It will scrap for 300. A friend would not sell it for much more than scrap at that milage but if it runs with a full battery do it.

Yeah, it runs fine. The alternator went out this past week and he wants to sell it to get an 07 335i. I've been looking for something to replace my 2011 aveo5

a car with over 300k shouldnt really be replacing anything. but if you need a truck then yes this is a good deal.
honestly these minitrucks are getting pretty rare. you could probably sell just the stock shell for 500 at least where im from they are really hard to find stock.

They're pretty reliable trucks as long as the frame doesn't rust out under them. For $500 you can't go wrong as a beater if the frame is decent. You could probably make that money back parting it out when you're done with it.

buy that shits, do the alternator and the timing chain, then drive it to mexico and get a ka24de installed for cheap in 50,000 miles. Mine has 270,000 miles and runs like a champ, i've had it for about 8 years. Yo will never have a more reliable vehicle if you take care of it.
these trucks are bulletproof. too bad it's not a kingcab or 4wd...
if it's pre-'89 it's got the Z24i, not as reliable or powerful as the KA24E but still a good engine.
if the frames good and there's no significant body rust I'd do it.
An alternator isnt that bad if a fix though, right?

I honestly dont know what is worse, a Nissan or a Aveo.

on a ka24e it's pretty straightforward. i'd get the battery tested, there's a chance the alternator fried it.

>doesn't respect metros or corollas for being economic, easily maintainable and reliable either
