Sorry for my plebness but how hard is it to go from a pull and turn handbrake to one of those ratchet ones? Could you just rerun a brakeline to where you want and put in a ratchet hand brake?

I noticed during my time in Germany that they always use the parking break even on automatic cars. I use it on manual but never on automatic...
