Does anyone use the Steam /ovg/ chat anymore? or do you use IRC more? or Mumble?

Just wondering where I might find people to race with when it comes to DiRT and AC. Those games don't have in-game chatrooms do they?

Why in the fuck do you have two different BoP patches that combine for under 100kb
>>
>>13971174
because physics files updates are tiny. nothing has to change in the model. what did you think you were being so smart with that comment?
>>
>>13971229
If they were large there would be a reason for not combining the two and having to upload and download everything all over again even if you had the first one.

When they're 80 fucking kb there's no reason for them to be separate, nobody will complain they had to redownload the 10kb of txt files they already had.

If you just want to spin a wheel around to pretend buy one of these.

There's not much point in expensive game controllers if you don't know what to do with them.

I get it, you can't afford a wheel, or don't have space for a wheel, stop taking away from other peoples fun.
>>
Friendly reminder that if you guys want a Friday night turnleft league to work, you need to run more pickup races on the pickup server.

There will most likely be a vetting process for the league, meaning if you've never done turnleft you won't be allowed to participate.

TURNLEFT

Okay so some limited rules for skin submissions

1. Cars must have numbers located on each side and on the roof, approximately sized and oriented as shown in this diagram (you dont need the numbers on the bumpers as they have it shown, unless you want to)
2. Cars must have driver name on the windshield banner

Other than that, go nuts.

tools are expensive, renting track for at least 3 days is also expensive, getting the engineers and designers to turn the raw data into an actual track is expensive then getting the programmers to make sure the mesh is intact and make it work and look good in game is also expensive.

Your flat tire is going to put the weight on that side of the car.

The lack of proper traction will cause you to be able to turn, and or the car spin due to digging.
>>
>>13973807
yes, but if I am steering in the direction of the flat tyre (which is btw how you deal with a blown tyre if you are travelling at highway speeds) the car should not spin in that direction since I am taking the weight off of that side and putting it on the healthy side

You want me to tell you what makes a sim a sim?

Let's say you had a bunch of kit (the best FFB wheel, a chair with a hydraulic system to simulate G forces, VR headset for accurate perception of depth and scale), and your aim was create a sim that would help train rally pilots, in the same way that flight sims train airline pilots IRL.
What is the single most relevant aspect in that situation, that will make them the most prepare? That's right, it's the way the car handles. The grip it has through the corners, the acceleration, the braking, the sliding. After that, it's the variety in stages. Wide, narrow, grippy, slippy, smooth, bumpy, dry, wet, with roadside dangers , without roadside dangers.

Damage simulation comes way, way after, because it's not as relevant in that context, since you're not supposed to be crashing.

Fuck off.

You are the one moving goal posts.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is "just a game" and yet the base software for it used in many real piloting schools that develop upon it.
Both RBR and Dirt Rally may not have been designed with being used by rally schools or something in mind but that doesn't actually matter since they might as well have been, the driving physics are there, and people HAVE hooked up G force chairs and VR headsets to use with both these games. It doesn't matter if some rally driving school out there, if such a thing exists, is using simulation software or not.

A sim is a sim. RBR is a sim. Dirt Rally is a sim. Rally2000 is a newgrounds game. Deal with it, you assburgers freak.

>race line has grip
Does this look like race line? I'm dangerously close to the wall and also slightly sliding. And yet stable enough to comfortably take my right hand off the wheel and hit F12 to take a screenshot.

Difference is, I'm controlling my weight and thus traction, you're not. In that webm, you didn't lose grip, in fact, you had too much grip in your front wheels and fucked up by turning too early.

I took it while driving, not replay. What were you expecting? Besides, it would look awful while driving if they didn't have the blur. We're not birds of prey.

>>13974736
I hate that (upcoming) corner. No problems with the rest of the track.

Really? I actually like that corner, my problem is the slight right into the left by the tree at the bottom of that hill, when the camber changes.

Every fucking time it sneaks up on me.

Is there a way to get Rfactor 1 to point to two different vehicle directories? It seems one RFM file takes priority over another RFM file and only the vehicles from the "top tier" RFM file display.

Thank you for your help :)

Okay new rules for submitted rFactor 2 skins to me since ISI are idiots and made skins unnecessarily difficult.

When you send me a skin, please send the skin with the exact same filename as you have it in your folder

Additionally, I need the following information EXACTLY AS YOU INPUT IT when you made the standalone car yourself:
DRIVER NAME
TEAM NAME
CAR DESCRIPTION
CAR NUMBER

If you dont know what I'm talking about, I'll have a page up on the wiki shortly with a little guide on getting your custom skin in game.
