2017 Lincoln MKZ on the top, 2016 on the bottom.
Why does every car need to look like every other these days?
>>13936896
On the one hand the new one looks quite a lot better. On the other hand, that's because it looks almost exactly like a Jaguar XF (disgusting wheels notwithstanding) which is a reasonably good-looking car.
I swear between this and the Fusion's db9 copying, Ian Callum is getting on for the most influential designer of our time.
Wheels and other styling elements are taken from the Continental concept.
>>13937183
And everything else is a fusion of every flagship luxury cars last generation
There's going to be a 400hp twin-turbo v6 version, with the torque-vectoring rear diff from the new Focus RS (although if you get the same engine in FWD it'll be de-tuned to 350hp)
>>13936896
The headlights look audi
>>13936896
Don't think the rear matches the front anymore.
>>13937183
>taken from the Continental
Which is a stolen Bentley design.
Lincoln is China tier. The MKZ looks like a fat Jaguar XJ.
>>13937321
They should draw from their heritage and bring back dem slab sides.
>>13937321
>tfw the only good ford designs are lifted directly off of much better cars
Ford confirmed for helpless, talentless losers
>>13937345
>youonlyhadtolisten.png
>>13937556
Atrocious looking concept.
There's probably a way to modernize those elements, but that concept isn't it.
>>13936896
>>13936896
Because the original design looked ugly, and anything different would resemble another car.
Thats why I always sorta liked the old design, just because it was different
Americlaps copied škoda superb this time
>>13937345
except then they'd be "copying" cadillac
>>13938848
This is what niggers and people who want to be niggers want. It just sad that the majority of people nowadays are niggers so this is all we get.
The new Lincoln design actually looks good for once. Yes, it looks a lot like Jaguar and Bentley, but it at least looks better than the 'split-wing' they were trying to do for several years.
>>13940903
Lincolns look great if your a nigger.
They should bring back the egg-crate grill. It looks great, and actually draws on the brand's history.
Pic related generation MKX is still the nicest looking crossover to my eyes.
>>13936896
they cant do shit because they are getting bitch slapped by muh mpgs and pedestrian safety
that and regulations stipulating headlamp hight
>>13940956
To what extend does pedestrian safety really dictate styling?
I saw it mooted as the reason all cars now have such high blunt noses, but then how are designs like the F-type and new Miata OK?
>>13940934
oh im sorry mr. supreme auto enthusiast, does this look better to you?
>>13939763
Not an old American car follower, but I don't think Cadillac ever had those super-clean slab sides. They were always much busier stylistically.
>>13940972
pedestrian safety is part of the reason for cars to have fenders so far as I know
crash standards are also making windows smaller
part of this is to catch people on the bonnet rather then have them run head first into the windscreen
but I think aerodynamics plays the biggest part
look at the modern cars that try to ape iconic styling aspects
they have to flatten the shapes out and get rid of all the bulges that would otherwise cause turbulence
in the oldest cars bodywork was just a protective covering that follows the shape of the mechanical components
everything is slab sided now and all designers can get away with is adding a few tiny creases that imply the car actually has a shape
>>13940972
the fish grill on the mx5 and f type make them sort of blunt compared to older cars
also there is a now a specified hight the bonnet has to be above the engine
Mercedes has a way around this with a bonnet that pops up when you hit pedestrian

>>13941015
No oh gawd what Is that shit?
>>13936896
nice audis
>>13941358
>forgetting what modern Audi's actually look like
>>13941153
It's the engina.
>>13941086
Lincoln figured out how to modernize this design back in 2002. Still looks fucking amazing. Much much much nicer than the generic one here >>13937183 (that's probably about what they're going to release soon but with smaller wheels and normal mirrors)
>fwd
>v6
pass, as much as i absolutely loathe GM, cadillac is making a rwd with possible v8 car to compete with the continental
>>13941497
Also suicide doors FTW.
If I was an oligarch I'd buy one for sure.
>>13941506
Oh my lord this has to exist one day. Exactly like this. Fuck concept cars why do you do this to me
>>13941504
The Lincolns can all be head in AWD. They're not pretending to be sports cars.
Looks so beautiful from the front...
>>13941526
...but the rear was a complete abortion.
>>13941497
>>13941506
>>13941526
>>13941532
I like, heres a concept I also liked....
>dat 5.0 land yacht
Too bad the actual car was nothing like it
>>13941539
pic didnt upload
>>13941506
Unfortunately visibility is now illegal, and they'd have to put XBOXHUGE B-pillars on a production version, which would totally ruin it.
>>13941557
A car that heavy and wide really shouldn't have to meet rollover specs, since it will never roll over.
i preferred the split grille they've been using the last couple of years. at least it stood out
