Nothing, really. If I had to drive something else I could only accept Patrols or Land Cruisers. But the Pajero has that racing pedigree and, back in the late 90s/early 2000s, was so far ahead of the competition's technology.

There hasn't even been an announcement about a new one and it doesn't matter because we probably won't get it in my country. The 4th generation is fine, it's just a 3rd generation with a face lifted exterior and updated interior.

If Jeep was owned by Ford and not Chrysler, I would never buy anything besides Grand Cherokees. But being Chrysler, every model year had its specific gremlins.

Either way I really like them. Great 4WD for an SUV that still drives nice on the road. Older ones were quite stiff on the road, but the past 2 generations have been incredible to drive.

Quadradrive II is one of the best 4WD systems there is, especially when it came out. The ELSDs are 99% as good as lockers with none of the drawbacks.

I agree. I have owned a few Explorers. And the 4WD system in the snow with some knobby tires definitely makes you feel confident that you can do laps around most other cars.

But then you get in a Grand Cherokee and put it in 4WD and it feels like dry ground. It's damn near impossible to lose traction. It's nice that they still kept good 4WD in the design even when 99% of the miles put on the car will be on asphalt.

Absolutely. It's too bad whoever worked on QDII didn't work on the rest of the car because, while far improved over its predecessors, it's still kind of garbage.
