It's automatic only because when they offered manual in the previous gen, nobody bought it. I remember watching a video where a Lexus rep said they literally sold 2 manuals in the US in the last year they offered it in the IS.

That said, I have the 2015 IS350 F-Sport and god damn, it's a pretty fun car. All the components in it feel very well matched. The chassis, steering, and suspension is especially good.
