Get an SN95 and swap in the Cobra IRS. You now have a Mustang that can turn and will BTFO most weebmobiles in a straight line.

>Are there ways to improve its handling?
The Fox-body Mustang can't corner to save its life.

You're talking quite a chunk of change to get it to corner, 6-7 grand for a good setup isn't unheard of.

If you want an American muscle car for the togue, the best option is GM's F-body, not Ford's Fox Mustang.
The F-body has ALWAYS outhandled the Mustang. The Mustang is lighter and faster in a straight line, but an F-body will outperform it around a track. The only weak point in the F-body is the 10 bolt rear diff. And on average, that's 2-3k to fix (switching to a 12 bolt rear)

>>13932107
Its not that simple. You've never tried to improve a cars handling. An IRS doesn't guarantee good handling, though I will concede the SN95 is the best variant of the Fox-body.

Most of them were automatic, and the only V8 manuals were 305 V8's. Manual swaps are actually really common and cheap.

The camaro has *marginally* outhandled the mustang over the years. Let's be real, and this is coming from a foxbody owner.. both handle like shit stock. Understandably. Nobody buys a mustang or camaro with great handling in mind. It's not what they do. That's not to say they can't be made to handle very well.

Because a setup to have a godly handling F-body is generally around 3-4k. They really are a better platform. Of course, you can still spend 7-8k if you want, but it's not needed. The Mustang needs so much more work to handle decently that it's not even funny.

I love how this is the only response you europoors can give whenever the ACR is brought up. It causes you so much butthurt that an American car is the better performer but there's nothing you can do about it because it shits all over absolutely everything.

There's nothing else you can say so you're reduced to denying the very fact that the car itself EXISTS as an American car. I love it.

Well seeing as how it's impossible for the ACR to set a nurburgring record with the regulations and speed limits still in place until next year, i guess we'll just have to settle for literally EVERY other track the ACR has run on. Let's see...

Willow Springs
>Viper- 1:21.24
>918- 1:23.54

Virginia International
>Viper- 2:40.02
>C7 Z06- 2:41.32
>918- 2:43.10
>GTR Nismo- 2:49.40 (topfuckingkek btw, the "godly" nismo gtr is almost 10 seconds slower)

Road Atlanta
>Viper- 1:26.54
>C7 Z06- 1:30.18

And last but not least...
Laguna Seca
>Viper- 1:28.65
>918- 1:29.89
>Mclaren P1- 1:30.71

And those aren't even all the track records, just the ones with decent competitive lap times.

Now you're turn...

OK, first things first: These cars are FLEXIBLE AS FUCK stock. You will want full length, weld-in subframe connectors.

Next up, fixing the rear geometry. Ford kind of forgot that you need to triangulate linkages or whatever to eliminate side to side sway, so the axle can kind of shift left to right. No bueno. The cheap fix is a panhard bar, couple hundred bucks. The more expensive fix is a watts link or IRS. Both will need new exhaust routing, or just dumping it ahead of the rear end.

The stock brakes are garbage. Absolute garbage. I'm not 100% on the master cylinder or whatever, but different pads and rotors alone would probably make a difference up front, although I think your best/cheapest option would be a full five-lug conversion off of an SN95, and get vented rotors instead of the OEM solid ones.

It's not a cheap process, but if you really like yours, it would be worth it.
