Horrible reliability, expensive parts. Aunt had one, dropped $6k into it over 2 months before selling it. And it was the nice john cooper works edition, too.

Really fun cars. My brother has an 05 cooper s that he bought with 60k miles on it. It now has 126k and hes had ZERO major issues with the car. Me and him both learned stick on it. Don't believe the memes, these cars are not that unreliable as long as you can properly maintain a car.

My brothers' has a supercharger but i believe they switched to turbos around 2010 or something. I'm sure they are great either way, just be careful if you are buying a used one!

The original mini is just all around better. Cheap to run, easy to fix, 0 depreciation, tons of attention from people (if you're into that) and immensely more fun to drive.

Personally, I'd skip the engine swap if you plan to DD it. The fun is in the handling, and all that power is just overkill.

I just bought one Monday after driving a 2001 Ford Ranger Edge for the past few years. I love my mini. It's a 2006 Mini Cooper S, this is the best year/model if you want a reliable engine.

I have. It's been a great car for me and hasn't really given me any problems. And the almost 40 mpgs I can get on an interstate run is pretty nice. My suggestion would be don't get a coupe made after 2006 because after that they went to using fobs and a start button, and a normal key is a much better system. Mine has to be one of the last ones made in 2006 before the switch to no keys.

One of my friends bough a blue convertible Mini S

He took me for a drive and the little thing can go, he says he topped it out at 260km/h, though I have only see it go up to 210km/h
Drove it once and it was... meh. yeah it has a nice acceleration, but all its power comes from its turbo, if you are not over 3k, that engine makes no power, its also an auto, so it was even more disappointing
Most of its weight is on the front so it feels like almost all FF cars that have no weight on the back

first and foremost mini coopers break transmissions. so you should never buy one. and it doesnt matter if its a manual or a automatic transmission they'll break it.
They suck salty monkey dick balls deep.
Aside from their consistent habit of breaking all transmissions they come into contact with they also arent even really a mini cooper they are a fwd bmw.
a real original mini cooper is pretty much the only FWD car that matters really, but that new fwd bmw it's a supreme fag turd you buy your daughter when she goes off to amount lots of student debt.
