It's much cheaper to produce, hence why it's found on souped-up econoboxes like the Fiesta ST and Subaru WRX, but it's not a mechanical LSD where the brakes not are not pumped. It's an ersatz solution at best, and comparing the Focus RS's AWD to the GT-R's is laughable.

It really isn't. Haldex was introduced almost ten years ago in the R32/Mazdaspeed 6/Volvo S60R. At this point its just as capable as a mechanical AWD system if not moreso. They took all the internet shitposting to heart about being FWD most of the time and made it respond quick enough to switch power to the rear where its unnoticable.

Just look at reviews for the new Audi S3/Golf R, its actually noted as more tossable/less understeery than the mechanical 50/50 split RS3s.
