How safe is LPG? It's cheap as fuck but I don't want to risk my life to save a few cents per liter.

Assume an accident happens with an LPG where there's a direct hit on the tank, will it explode?

How safe is LPG?
>Used by most taxis.
>Same insurance rates as petrol

>where there's a direct hit on the tank, will it explode?

It depends how hard and sharp the object that hits it is. I one saw a 45kg cylinder fall off a truck and go sliding 50 feet across the road then bounce 2 feet in the air over a curb. It didn't leak.

Correct me if I'm wrong but as far I'm aware petrol and diesel only catches fire but doesn't blow.
80 liters of compressed gas however gives me different ideas.
>>
>>13869396

Diesel doesn't really catch fire unless its in a quite high temperature

Gasoline explodes
>>
>>13869402
So gasoline is no different than LPG when comparing safety?

Come on guys, don't lie to OP.

In the event of an accident, and the tank is hit, it WILL explode. However, death is instantaneous and painless so fear not anon. YOLO

LongPostGuy is not dangerous to your health as far as I know.
>>
I don't know anyone who uses LPG, but from what i've hard it's pretty safe.

If its propertly installed, it's safer than gas.
>>
>>13869402
you can literally put out a cig in a bucket of diesel and live to tell about it
>>
>>13869293
Make sure you get your installation done properly by someone who knows what they're doing.

7 years ago, my parents were coming back home. It was icy on a tight turn. The guy in front of them slid and crashed. My father slowed down to help, almost stopped. Someone behind them hit the brakes, locked the wheels and hit them with like 80km/h. The impact was so powerful my mother hurt her back. Back of the car was in terrible condition. The other car got absolutely fucked up. When I checked the damage, I saw the LPG tank moved a couple centimeters.

Not really, no. Couldn't find the video, but they tried hard to ignite it. http://mythbustersresults.com/special7

>>13869412
I just found this video. You're wrong, LPG is "safer".

Pretty much every taxi here uses it here. A lot of private cars too.
>>

You are one stupid shit
>>
If it has been properly installed there shouldn't be much to worry about. The only horror story I've heard is when a tank blew up in a taxi with a botched installation here in Barcelona, and even then the driver walked out unscathed.

Personally, I think it's a wast of money. It adds weight, it's another "complex" system that can go wrong (and you can't neglect it like other shit), it fucks up your boot space, it can negatively affect resale value, and you really have to do a SHIT TON of miles and keep the car for years to cover the installation costs.
