I bought a tercel, went to register it and the previous mileage is 210,000 miles. Fucker said it had 130,000. What can I do. Guy wont respond or anything, wanna go fuck his shit up but im beta as fuck.

The thing that shows the mileage is part of the gauge cluster. If you replace the whole cluster it shows the mileage from the car it was pulled out of.

We don't know who swapped the cluster, could have been before the seller got the car.

Still, OP should have run a VIN report on it before buying it. That would show the reported mileage. VINbro even does it for free.

visually, there isn't much interchangeable. front end swaps have been done, but it's a lot of work, and nothing lines up quite right.

Depending on which county you live in, that can be every two years, or only when you transfer the title. If you live in 420bongistan like me you only have to smog it once when the title is transferred and then do whatever the hell you want to it. If you transfer it to an immediate family member (wife/child/sibling/parent/grandparent) you don't even have to re-smog it.

Does that hold true with the Paseo too? I've always kind dug how they looked, but figured it'd be slow and boring as fuck to drive. My understanding is the Paseo was a Tercel made to look sportier. If I could easily swap one, that'd make a cool sleeper for commuting.

4EFTE swap which is 130hp to the crank will cost you $3000 all said and done if you do the work yourself. 5EFE comes with 100hp to the crank stock.

4th gen Tercel's 3E-E engine is an enormous piece of shit.

Paseos have another sway bar, stiffer chassis by design/welding, and slightly larger brake rotors.

Paseos, Starlets, Tercels, and Seras share many mechanical parts but many chassis components won't swap over. Transmission swapping may involve drilling mounting holes in the housing.

The two big ticket items Terseo owners yoink off the Starlet GT is the 4EFTE motor and the rear axle because it has ~discu bureiku~

The only thing the cars really bring to the table is the 2000lb curb weight and they don't perform any better than your run of the mill Yaris or Echo.

It helps to check out the history of the car before even buying it. I went to look at a geo this weekend and the state of the car would've made you believe it was over 200k on the odo but the cluster said 91k. I'm almost positive he swapped the cluster and tried to pass it off as low mileage

And what's more, the Paseo has a 5E-FE, esentially a 1.5 litre version of the 1.3 4E. You can basically slap the turbo stuff off a 4E-FTE onto the 5E. Or just go straight for the normal 'aftermarket' turbos, like using td04s etc.

No you can't. You will throw a rod turboing a stock 5EFE.

You will melt the 4th cylinder piston using the 4EFTE turbo manifold.

The 4EFTE has a completely different compression ratio and was made for turbocharging. Even the 5EFHE a japan only more robust version of the 5EFE is very sketchy without proper EMU.

That's the exact reason I kept mine N/A and enjoyed it for the lightweight shitbox it was.

Toyota fanboys may jump in and say "uhh buh I found this engine/trans/ecu combo for X price" but that doesn't factor in the electronics, timing kit, and other components you'll need to replace when doing the swap. The actual real world cost of doing a reliable 4EFTE swap to your Tercel/Paseo is $2500 - $3000.

The only rational reasoning behind the 4EFTE swap I've seen is that you're getting about as much horsepower as a B13 Sentra SE-R or a Dodge Neon R/T but with about 500 lbs weight savings.

That said you could just swap an EG/EF/EK Civic for much cheaper and more reliably and achieve the same result.

Why go turbo when the BEAMS exists? A 3SGE is even stretching it because you're putting a shit ton of weight on the front end of the car. It's already something like 64/36 F/R weight bias.

Yeah, I kinda figured the engines would be too big for the cars. I do like the BEAMS. I'd prefer to swap my MR2 with BEAMS over the turbo anyways.
