Looking into buying my first non-shitbox car

Decent aftermarket
Im fine with swapping stuff, i have a decent amount of mechanical knowledge
Looks cool
Torque is better than hp, 0-60 is better than top speed
As cheap as possible
Thought about junkyard lotus or something and throwing an LS in it
Dream car involves rear engined TT v12 but that probably isnt too likely
Unless it looks as good as a lotus or better, cant be 2 seats
Thinking about buying a friends g35 with 135 miles on it for between 7500 and 9000 and throwing something other than the vq 35 in it, not sure though
Any ideas? Trying to keep it as cheap as possible

Probably, depending on the car and the engine, it would need a new tranny, ecu, engine harness and mount, wiring, a decent amount of work.

How about an S197 Mustang GT?
They can be bought in the low ten thousands or high thousands. They're more modern and refined than SN95 Mustangs, and have some of the best aftermarket support in the US.
