There will be a short-term bubble from people thinking just like you, but long term, they're always gonna be over-shadowed by the cars before and after (especially the 993). The 993 turbo is about 100k+, the 997 turbo is around 80-90k. For a mezger engined turbo, the 996 is a pretty big
Bargain at 45k. It has room to run up to 50-60k easily considering it is 80% the same parts as a 997 turbo

I can see it if it's the Sonic RS model. The overpriced, somewhat performance oriented, and there's no reason to buy one when compared to competitors like the Fiesta ST (only a grand or so more) so it doesn't sell well.

this guy get it. after the honeymoon, buyer's remorse will set in hard on a 996. Bad outside, bad inside, lot off issues with the motor, poor resale, and everyone thinks they're getting in on the ground floor with them, so their value is currently over inflated, even at their low prices. Get a used early Cayman, if you want a cheapish Porsche. The 996 is gonna be like the 944 is now: cool car, fun to drive, but outside of a few special editions, no real value (and porsche guys will look down on you)

I can see the 1st and 2nd gen Saturn SLs being cult cars. Never worth real money, but clean examples will definitely have their buyers 20 years from now.
