Eh ive been in my friends MK2 and it feels "flimsy". Like alot of roadnoise mostly. Cant imagine the MK1 is any better.

daily drove a mk3 for 7 years. extremely reliable, easy to work on, cheap parts. 2.0 ABA 5sp.

Any idea how the Diesels are?
The good MPGs and Smog exemption if theyre 97 and older def tickle my pickle
>>
>>13826505
The 1.9 TDI is nearly unkillable and gets good MPGs, but it's NOT a refined engine.
>>
>>13824547
They're not known for reliability, but I can see the appeal of them. Ex-boyfriend had a MK3 Jetta, and a mutual friend has a MK4 GTI.

The unreliability meme is true

Orly?
How so?

>>13826625
I just want a hatchback type car, diesel would be a bonus

Why not a Dodge Shadow/Plymouth Sundance (pictured. I know they all look like coupes/sedans, but they ARE hatchbacks) or a Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon?
Both are endlessly reliable belonging to the Chrysler K-car family that save Chrysler from bankruptcy.

I dont feel like going to extra lengths to locate one.
Im not looking to mod it.

My uncle loves to buy and flip VWs as a hobby, and one thing he's always told me about is the electronics going off on most of them. Certain doors not arming when you hit the lock button, power windows not functioning, etc. Other than the odd electrical issue they're pretty sturdy if you're not retarded. I'm partial to the VR6 GTI, but it's terrible for mileage compared to diesel.
>>
currently drive a mk3 jetta 2.0 aba 5spd. not bad, random electrical issues at times but it runs great. also loads of parts available for it. i recommend getting one with roll-up windows.
