I know that even the CRX's gained weight from 88-89 to 90-91. It was mostly safety equipment. Side impact beams were added to the doors, front and rear bumper supports gained significant weight to increase the bumpers' crash rating from 2 mph to 5 mph.. I don't know much about the Del Sol, but I imagine that increasing safety standards are the reason it weighs more.

>>13799224

I have the full invoice from the day the car was received and made available to sell. They did stuff like replace the windshield, replace 5 mounts (motor and trans), checked belts and such.

Transmission fluid check isn't mentioned specifically, (they did mention that they checked and topped off fluids), but I would normally feel pretty safe assuming they wouldn't check the motor mounts and not the trans oil.

Regardless, i'll check it tomorrow sometime.

anyways heres an interior shot. im using a PSPEC short throw shifter. the height can be adjusted but i have it set to the lowest right now (just below the 2din height). it can be set as high as the top of 2din. i dont think they even make this short throw shifter anymore, it was a limited run kind of thing.

also the prelude has been lowered to a drivable 1.2 inches. enough to clear ALL speed bumps without crabwalking over it. some driveways are treacherous though due to the long nose on the lude.

carpets are too luxurious, i like to feel the car's bones in my bones

Let's all try and be rational here /hg/ newfriends, all hondas can be made quick quite easily. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. I for one enjoy the fact that my prelude doesn't feel like a tin can driving around town with the ability to shit on most civics I come across on the touge or higway. 750ti and i5 3570k. Used to have a i3 2100 which will be going into the old Dell case. Upgrading to a GTX 950 and the 750 will finish off the Dell sleeper. My PC ain't fancy but it can handle modern games pretty well. MGSV and Witcher 3 ran great. Dusty though.

Found a nice Thinkcentre mobo on eBay that includes 4gb RAM that'll go great with the i3.

Preludes are one of the best Hondas you can buy. First and second generation are more of a rarity and a headache due to vacuum hose nightmares. Now the third, fourth and fifth generations are the most practical Preludes.

The third generation as your looking at in my opinion is severely underrated. Fast in a straight line? Not entirely, however the 1990-1991 Prelude Si are on par with the second generation Integra on those terms with HP/TQ and weigh nearly the same. I wouldn't say they're fast, however it's not bad either. The 1990-1991 Prelude Si are the best version of the third generation. What you want to look for as a platformer/daily is a 1990-1991 Prelude Si 2WS (as you've pictured I assume). Due to the weight of 4WS, it's an excellent feature, but weighs the Prelude down too much imo. The 1990-1991 comes with the B21A1. It's the best and worst engine that comes with the third gen. Higher compression, the FRM cylinders, more power (140hp/135tq) than it's brother the B20A5 and the IABs are pluses with this engine, however there are downsides too that may scare people away. When not maintained or beaten, the B21A1 will burn tons of oil (due to premature ring failure) from the FRM cylinders. They're strong as hell, however Honda decided not to compensate for the ring material (which was corrected in the H22/23). My 1991 burnt more oil than it did fuel, however it also had over 250k on it when this began.

As known with most Hondas, the third gen has a stiff chassis and exceptional suspension geometry. As also known, that suspension was setup as Honda's double wishbone and coilovers. Stock, the body does not roll as hard another Honda or other Japanese car of the era and with a larger diameter sway bar, it improves it much more. Both the 2WS and 4WS have amazing suspensions, both of which I find to be superior to fourth gen suspension (feels like an Accord) and fifth gen in the base model. 1/2

>>13813934
In my opinion, no

$1-3k- Buy a civic
$4-6k- EP3 or RSX
$7-10k- save up for a S2000
$11-15k- S2000 or 6 speed accord V6 coupe if you need a touring-type car
$15k or more- S2000 CR or newer civic Si

This is just my opinion, and only hondas considered. For any make, I'd go with civic (1-3k), miata (4-6k), FC RX7 (7-10k), S2000 or FD RX7(11-14k), and WRX (>15k).

Buy it.

>In 1987, Road & Track published a test summary that shows the 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0Si 4WS outperforming every car of that year on the slalom, with a speed of 65.5 mph (105.4 km/h), even besting exotics such as Porsche and Ferrari. For reference, the 1988 Chevrolet Corvette C4 took the same course at 64.9 mph (104.4 km/h).
And it was on regular all-seasons.

The styling of the fifth generation was inspired from the third generation and the third generation was a much improved second generation. Third gen styling is my favorite due to the simplicity and functionality of late 1980s Japan. This car is pre-CAD, which I also prefer. The interior is among my favorite interiors, however the second generation Integra passes the Prelude in smooth design. Prelude dashes are made of polyurethane unlike its plastic/vinyl successors. In my book having a dash that shouldn't/won't crack is better than having a huge ass airbag dash. Third gen interiors are among the least cheap/meh looking. It's late 1980s Japan though, it was made cost effectively, however the material choice was on point.

Various info:
>140hp @5800 135tq @5200 (imo low as fuck)
>All third gens are 4WS ready
>Weighs 2300-2600 pounds (1991 Si 2WS without spare tire or tools weighs around 2450 w/ manual trans)

Swap able engines consist of the F20B, H22A/1/4 and H23A1. F22A would fit as well.

>>13814037
It's still great. Hell, I love how they handle. I just don't prefer the weight of 4WS. Would purchase one though.

Oh and I forgot to mention in the first two posts. Third gens use mechanical 4WS, the best and most simple variant. Fourth gens use electrical and if you take a look at that thing and Nissan's HICAS, you could guess why it's a pain in the ass. Plus it lags.

Fifth gen uses ATTS, which on a broad point made electrical 4WS obsolete. The fifth gens in the US do not have 4WS iirc.

a miata is the same price as a civic which is the same as a del sol

a Del Sol is around 2200-2400 pounds
that added weight is most likely the automatic version power steering with the roof take off device thing
a 6th gen Civic hatch is 2400-2500 pounds

Any pointers, or anything to look out for?

Bout to go to bed but wanna post this.

Guy I bought my hatch from is selling another Civic. I bet he bought it with the money I gave him for the hatch. Bet he's regretting it now with second gear going out. All my gears work great still.

I only know this is the same guy because my hatch was in that same exact parking spot.

>HELLA RADICAL
>>13819285
I sleep literally 15ft from my car at any moment lol, and I am still super paranoid. I can't imagine owning my cars and living in a city. And shiet, I'm planning on moving to the SF area the next year or two, a place with a two car deep garage is going to be insansely expensive, but it beats getting my CRXs stolen.

>Or does it? Could I save enough money on parking on the street to just run out and buy a replacement CRX? Would be hilarious (And I feel true because it's expensive as fuck) if instead of getting a garage, I could just buy two more CRX each month and never have to worry.
