>Once a global leader, New York’s subway has largely stayed the same size as other cities, particularly in Asia, have built large new systems.
Probably the only flaw of being first in the field: you end up having to pay maintenance on that while everyone piggybacks on your hard work and makes better stuff.
Anyway it's nice to see that other cities are expanding their lines. DC has been struggling for years to try and connect Dulles International Airport to the metro system, and some of the other connector lines have just been stuck in developmental hell while sections of the existing network are being shut down in sequence to preform critical maintenance.

>this is only going to make places more expensive to live
public transit is gentrifying.

then don't live in there and prices will go down

Hate to be that guy but the London subway system is older, well older.

>drive,be stuck in traffic
or
>subway, smell negro sweat and ethnic odours with no personal space

Who drives in New York anyway? Why don't you just get your driver to drive you around?
>>82110
No, being first isn't the reason why ny subway is so awful
It's not even the first in America
Ny subway was the largest in the world for quite a while, but the reason why it sucks so hard is because it isn't looked after as well as others
All of this pales in contrast to the fucking debacle of California's high speed rail project

But that's in 30-50 years, Anon.
I live in NYC, the 2nd Avenue Subway is NOT opening Monday. The tentative date is December 31st.
Monday is the day they change the N/Q routes and bring back the W train.

This also applies so badly to internet.
The US then soon after US-Canadian inter-institution internet infrastructure that was laid out during the 70s for high education and military use ended up being the backbone for North American internet and that's why today we have old copper shit in 99% of the continent while backwater east Europe nation gets gigabit fiber for $10/month

Driving is really good in queens and brooklyn. Don't drive in manhattan unless you're a cab.
>>82352
Isn't the W train using the new lines to get to existing stations though?
for a european, how good is it to live in NYC ?
>>82442
Good if you don't mind walking everywhere as driving is hell the subways are okay.

It's fine if money isn't a problem for you. It's one of the most expensive places to live in the country. The tax rates and the highest cost of living there are astronomical compared to the rest of the country.
On the other hand, it's also the city that never sleeps and one of the most densely populated places in the country, so you get what you pay for.

No, the W is on the same line as the N/Q. All that's happening today is the Q stops at 57th Street/7th Avenue rather than going into Queens (which it already did that on weekends). Once the 2nd Ave Subway opens, the Q will connect to that.
