http://www.smh.com.au/technology/sci-tech/astounding-archaeology-discovery-places-inland-human-occupation-of-australia-at-49000-years-20161102-gsg4ox.html

>Archaeologists working with traditional Aboriginal owners in the northern Flinders Ranges have discovered astounding evidence of the earliest human habitation of inland, arid Australia.

>The find has pushed back the date of such occupation by 10,000 years to about 49,000 years ago.

>One of the traditional owners of the area, Clifford Coulthard, who is a co-author of the study, said the findings weren't really a surprise to him.

>"Our old people know we've been here a long time," he said.

>The site, the Warratyi rock shelter in the traditional lands of the Adnyamathanha people, also has evidence of extinct megafauna, including the diprotodon.

>The authors of the study, published on Thursday in Nature, said it finally settles the question of whether humans and megafauna overlapped chronologically.

this is cool, makes me feel bad for them to be honest.

As an Australian I feel we have to do something big about it to make the situation better for them, i don't mean small handouts or welfare or anything. We need to set their families up for several generations with the best education too.

Ironically, being from /pol/ makes me feel we really really need to help the aboriginals here.

>Acting like they deserve anything because their ancestors from 49k years ago called first dibs on the land.
Because they made so much progress with the land while it was "theirs" right?
>>

>>81834
the thing is whether they deserve it or not, we took the only land they have and have pretty much non-violently genocided them even if wasn't intentional.

Even if most of the aboriginal cultures in Australia were shit, by undoubtedly destroying a lot of them we have lost things for humanity.

Let's put it this way, if aliens invaded us today and they ruled the world, would it be okay just because we weren't advanced enough to fight back?
>>
>>81766
I thought there were already an established population of human in Australia that died out when the aboriginals moved in? Which group do these bones belong to?
>>
>>81838
it sounds likely.
>>
>>81830
But how do you do that? The Govt already spends $40k + (per 2012-2013 figures, can't be bothered finding later one but i feel it might be closer to $60k-$80k).

To improve shit, you would basically have to grant free schooling and Uni/Tafe/Trade for every Abo until they're 25 or something, plus greatly reduced medical and living prices; and that's probably going to be close to $120k-$150k per person.

The average Abo's life is that fucked that you would need the above to run for 50+ years before real culture change happens.

>you would need the above to run for 50+ years before real culture change happens.

well then that's what we should do.

limits are important though, we need to establish the year we cut off the scheme and all asistance/affirmative action as exactly 50 years from the time it's started, then we need to stick to that.

>we have lost things for humanity.

Name one

Some of their oral tradition about now extinct animals is pretty cool also their linguistic tradition goes back 10's of thousands of years so they are like living fossils.

So they belong to a museum.
>>

or a zoo.

>name the things we lost
someone doesnt understand the concept of losing things.

i remember hearing about archaeologists finding evidence of eel farms in creeks.... it's important to remember that the british military were the first wave before colonists and their mission of """""discovery""""" involved alot of murder and destruction.

military definition of "discovery" probably is more of a first sweep to see if they're going to need more guns. the fact that the aboriginals fell so quickly and easily doesnt say they werent advanced, it only says that they hadnt advanced at war.... peace is a skill many cultures could stand to learn.

There is no such thing as nonviolent genocide.
If you stick 2 groups of genetically different people in the same area, and they breed to the point of homogeny, then you didn't delete one group. You created something new entirely. Cultural and genetic evolution is natural, and it's likely that new groups will form one day.
I swear, white nationalist and sjw types are almost disgustingly similar. If your people aren't being intentionally starved or killed en masse, then it's not genocide.
>>
>>81830
WE HAVE ALREADY DONE THAT YOU FUCKIN LEFTY PIECE OF SHIT!! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT??? IF YOU FEEL SO BAD GO AND PROSTRATE YOURSELF AD THEIR FEET AND DO THEIR BIDDING!!!
>>
>>81876
I agree evidence of eel farms is neat, but it's not something we've lost. Half grown eels pile up in little nooks worldwide, they've been farmed dozens of ways.
The loss of oral tradition is what saddens me. That's just not something you can dig up and we lost out on an interesting opportunity.

Still, thinking aborigines were/are peaceful is laughable. The evidence we have implies the opposite. Archeological and modern day. Mostly it's the modern day child abuse brushed under the rug of "culture" that bothers me.
