North Korea warns of 'super-mighty preemptive strike'

You can't watch Soviet Tsar Bomba footage along with the US Bikini Atoll and Nevada Test Range footage from the 1950s and 60s and tell me all that didn't subtly alter the Earth's climate in some way.

Absolutely agreed, the problem is that this won't be a singular detonation in a remote location. Not that I'm defending the preciously done tests but they have already been done now and humanity has socially advanced from that sort of practice to a point in which those things much like christian conquest or slavery that were somewhat the normal practice for that time, currently it is not. The best we can do with that is learn from what happened and avoid in the future, but I guess it's out of our hand and what's left is to bite the pillow.

Even a full blown nuclear exchange at the height of the cold war wouldn't have caused "global annihilation." Things would have gotten pretty bad, yes, and lots of people would have died(both from direct effects and after effects of the nuclear blasts and from starvation caused by the nuclear winter), but it wouldn't have been the end of the world unless you happened to live in one of the population centers targeted.

You're assuming the missiles would be launched from the Korean peninsula. The whole point of the last Nork missile launch test while Pence was in Seoul was to demonstrate their newly acquired submarine launching capability. Granted, the missile blew up, but the launch itself from a sub was a success.

I think it's far more likely that they've been amassing normal explosives and using old Cold War stuff, and instead have spent their time and "scientific minds" triggering it all together so it goes off at once and it's this that they're using to "blackmail" countries (and they go along with it because it fits global agendas).

If they have something, they bought it illegally and in no way already exploded it. And, like you said, they have no delivery system.

I also think that those missiles they use on parade are probably hollow metal shells, just like those AK's probably don't have any ammo in them.

NKor is a "damned if you do it, and damned if you don't" situation.

The nukes are scary, but the real problem is that they have more poundage of artillery aimed at Seoul than was used in the entirety of WW2, all on a hair trigger. Any engagement with NKor is estimated to end up with 3 million dead SKor civilians within the first hour. (And, indeed, the Clinton administration went through several hundred war scenarios, all ending with at least that lost - something that NKor loves to point out.)

But NKor wants the attention. Their entire power structure relies on presenting the US as an imminent threat to their people. At the same time, they are largely reliant on foreign aid.

So they hold a knife to SKor's throat, while screaming about injustice and a hostile US. Hoping either to get bribed into silence, or real instill enough hostility to serve their propaganda.

Ignore them, and they make more noise, more grandiose weapon demonstrations, etc. etc.

Pay them attention and you play right into their hands.

Basically, unless we can bribe China into dealing with them, there is no good way this can end.

It's also an extremely delicate situation and a powder keg that could ignite with one wrong word - and given how often our current president likes to gaff - I have a feeling one of those "not good endings" will happen within the next few years.

When America fought the Koreans, we split it in two and made the north the equivalent of a "double agent". For two reasons. To allow us a legitimat cause to bring our force closer to the Russians, and North Korea can build up its military because they hate us, and the south builds up its " defences " as a response. But because the North Korean are the #1Anti-USA. This would draw out all the other countries that would want to oppose the United$tate Empire.

First we will see more and more talks about Ww3 it will get to the point that it's even in the grade schools. And because they feared the possible submarine attack, to California, "They" continue to allow Fukushima to leak radiation into the Pacific thus making sub tracking in the Pacific %100 accurate.
