Using tram system as metro is really a short sighted move. Even monorail would carry more passengership than this "metro".

Super 8 videos of the old Bielefeld tram from 1986, just before it was converted to a Stadtbahn system with underground sections. You can see some of the construction sites in the video. The newer vehicles are still in use today.
